Yeah it's a 1st gen, ichecked and no the apple store will only swap out like for like, it's a 32gb wifi, i'm probably going to bite the bullet and get some money together and get a new ipad, may sell off the old one on ebay with pics showing the fault, if someone wants to buy it to try and repair the screen all well and good

You'd be surprised what people would buy off ebay.

I'm not sure, but I think the Apple store will sometimes give you some credit towards a new iPod (or iPad?) if you give them your broken one. If you dont feel like going through the hassle of selling it, it wouldnt hurt to ask.

They won't give you near as much as you could get on eBay or Craigslist.

Yea, I mean its a pretty small amount, but it is something the OP should know about. I would personally sell it on eBay or Craigslist. My mom on the other hand would leave it sitting in a box somewhere and not get anything for it.
