After a few hours of use I'm really beginning to wonder if I need the Pro. The Air 2 seemed to operate the same, but I'm a guy who likes to have the latest and greatest when I get something new. The thing with the iPad is I don't use it nearly as much as my MBPr or my iPhone 6s Plus. I might keep it for a week or so then decide. I think Best Buy has a 14 day return policy.

I think the iPad you got is the best choice--but if you aren't going to use it much I'm not sure it's worth it for you to get any iPad.

It depends on your usage. 32GB is plenty for me. Even 16GB is manageable, though annoying at times, for me. But I don't play games, download my entire music library, or load a bunch of movies. I'm always connected to the Internet, so I can back my pictures and videos up and stream all of my music, movies, and TV shows. If the iPhone SE was offered at 32GB for the base model, I would have saved $100. :/
It's the annoyance factor of 16gb that gets me. You pay all that money to have to micro-manage your apps/videos etc. for 3-4 years? Its crazy. I do agree with you - I have a 16gb phone, that does just fine. But after OS, it has some ridiculous number like 10gb left or something like that. It certainly gets by if you're careful. But things add up over time (especially photos), and I have better things to do than manage my storage. To each their own.

Yeah. 16GB really just isn't enough anymore. Not to be comfortable. But for me, 32GB would be plenty probably for several more years.

Well, I DID strongly recommend the Air 2 over the 9.7 Pro. :p

I was in a similar boat a while ago... and I chose the Air 2 primarily because as a package it was of a greater value (capabilities for the price) than the 9.7 Pro. Then along came a killer sale on the 12.9 Pro and I went for that.

I got the IPP 12.9 on a BestBuy sale as well. Then I got the ASK and Pencil with a 20% off deal that ATT was having. I got a great back case for it from Amazon for $12 so I'm pretty happy. I love the huge screen.

Yeah I know you did. It's a constant battle within me between the frugal accountant and the guy wanting the latest technology lol.

I did the same thing as you, yesterday changed the Air 2 by pro 9.7, only took the pro because of the processor, but the 32g serves me well.
I was afraid of Apple kill the Air 2 perfomance to sell the pro, she likes to do it.
What do you guys think of the difference in speakers? Large difference?

just felt that vibrates less, but for me it did not make much difference, most of the time I think I'm with the iPad Air 2, but of to notice a performance difference when using two apps at the same time, watching video on Youtube and navigating Safari, the iPad Air 2 gave a little lag, but nothing big and Ipad pro 9.7 does not have this

There is general consensus (in NUMEROUS other threads about 9.7 vs Air2) that the speakers are a huge improvement. I personally do not have experience with the 9.7, but have an Air2 and can say that:
- the Air2, for me, does not vibrate
- the Air2 speakers are highly directional and are a step down from the iPad3 speakers.

I'd recommend you look into one of the many Air2 vs 9.7 threads.

So I've had the iPad Pro almost 3 days now. After about a year of not using my mini due to being slow, I am having a hard time finding any uses for my pro. I tend to use my iPhone the most for emails, web browsing, forums, etc because I can easily take it out of my pocket. Then when I want to work on my CPA stuff I take both my iPad and MBPr along. I will admit that lectures are better on the iPad, but other than that I end up only playing solitaire on it. Maybe I'm not a person that needs an iPad anymore. I'm having a hard time determining if I'm getting enough utility out of it to justify the price.

If you don't listen to music or watch media before speaker system isn't necessary but just think what you will need the iPad for in the future I was a heavy MacBook Pro 15 inch user till the iPad Pro 12.9 came out since December or use my MacBook Pro 15 inch only for heavy Gaming for the other 98% I use my iPad Pro did you decide to get the smart keyboard and try that out it will change your mind and add functionality to the pro

I am just like you I like to have the latest greatest but now that I have the 12.9 inch iPad Pro I almost don't see the need to update to the next generation I am on a two-year payment plan through Verizon and I'm OK with that

I wonder if I should have gotten the 12.9". It just seemed like a lot to spend.

To be perfectly frank, if you're having a hard time finding a use for your 9.7" Pro, upping it to a 12.9 Pro or trading it in for the Air 2 is not going to do it for you. If you NEED to 'justify' it to yourself, then return it and be content with your phone and Mac.

It sounds like you're trying to fit a big peg into a small hole - or waiting for a use to come to you. If you wait for a use, it's going to eat away at your while you're not using it.

If you're not getting the use, ask yourself why. If the answer is because you have a workflow that works well on your Mac and you don't want to switch it to the iPad (or integrate the iPad) then return it. If the answer is because you can't integrate it, return it. If the answer is that you just haven't gotten around to it yet... Force yourself to try doing more on the iPad, then make the decision.

I don't know if you would be up for it but I bought my 12.9 through Verizon and they have a device payment plan of like 40 bucks a month to pay it off over two years instead of paying the thousand dollars upfront And I use my current data plan if I'm out and about I need Internet access I assume AT&T would have the same plan but you have to buy it from the carrier not Apple and you get 128 GB also

The 12.9 is a lot of money, but it did replace my MacBook Air, so for me, it's money well spent. YMMV.

For me my 12.9 replaced my Macbook Pro 15 inch except for hard-core gaming which is only about 3% of the time the other 97% I use my iPad Pro 12.9 daily and for everything else including casual gaming with a controller

The 12.9 is also my favorite iPad of all times. With the recent iOS updated and the apple pencil has made it very useful for me. I like to draw and sketch as well as multitask on the iPad.

I am having a hard time making sense out of that. Undecided much? Maybe you just don't need a tablet at all?

I bought the ipad pro 9.7 and I'm sorry after a few days, he does the same thing as the Air 2 and has almost the same performance

Well, I just sold my iPad Air a couple days ago for 260€ and bought me an iPad Pro 9.7". Awesome sound, superfast, and ofc TouchID. I've had the iPhone 6 before and was always holding my thumb on the standard home button of the Air, waiting for it to unlock. :D The Pro will serve me nice in the next couple of years.
