sweet!
will it be the same cost as the U.S Model?
It should be, considering the exchange rate....1 to 1

We just pay around double the dollars in GBP over here in the Uk. It's fair really, although it does make the price look less 'wonderful' and more 'about the same as a desktop pc'. Not that anyone has officially announced a price or anything.

Oh well we'll get ours soon enough. (grumble grumble / still can't freaking wait!)

At the top of this story the Apple ad copy is pictured:

"A magical and revolutionary product at an unbelievable price"

Wow, 33% superlatives. Without them it reads essentially: "A product at a price."

Canadian dollar should make pricing close to parity with US

Let's hope the price is close to the US since the dollar is almost at parity. I've been using the Touch as my main news reader and can't wait to have something more powerful.

The UK model is delayed because it's getting a forward facing camera so the user can be constantly monitored by the police/government.

Sounds good to me; I was thinking it would be the 24th! I get paid then too so I hope I can control myself and not go too mad on accessories and in the App Store! :D

It's actually not that too far away by the time we get through the two shortened weeks for Easter we'll be nearly there! :p

With regard to the the 'Apple may wait until after the US launch to open non-US pre-orders' bit: Won't they already have a pretty good idea of demand from the US pre-orders?

I really hope UK (and elsewhere) pre-orders open this weekend.

Something tells me I should have pre-ordered the 3G one instead of waiting to reserve it in the store. I like purchasing stuff at the Apple store, its such a nice store to visit. If Canada is launching on April 24th, then I guess that 3G shipments will happen around the same time.

Its so strange that Apple is doing a Sunday launch with the Wifi one, and I guess the 3G will be the same.

I wonder when Apple is going to announce the date for the 3G model, this wait is killing me. lol

The 3rd is a Saturday. No Sunday launch.

So......where's the 3G model?

And, if you're in the UK, deal with it. You get to live in the UK. It should be reward enough.

Wow you're right it's great to live in a wet miserable place where everything comes later at and at a greater price :p

No UK availability, no UK pricing, no UK preorder date, and no UK launch date. Hell, no confirmation on iBookstore and apparently no UK 3G deal either considering the UK version of the Apple iPad website explains that in order to use 3G on the 3G model, we've got go out and LOOK for a carrier and contact them to see if they can hook us up with a MicroSIM card.

The prospect of FINALLY getting some international info soon is very welcome!

apparently there are already more pay-as-you-go data plans options in Europe than in US anyway. And if you can't find a mini-SIM, I've read that you can simply cut a full-size one down with a pair of scissors -- templates are available on the web. So, I'm not too worried about getting a 3G version.

why do i have a gut feeling that Rogers and Apple wont come to an agreement and canada will only see WiFi models...

:(

/i hope i'm wrong.

Can't agree with you on the 'fair' part. Apple have poor to non-existant hedging strategies, despite seeing themselves as an international company, and sourcing all their products from the far east.

But why should UK customers pay at the higher end whether the pound is at less than $1.50 and more than $2.00? Their UK pricing model seems to be on a ratchet system, and I fully expect the iPad price to be 'unbelievable', just not in a good way.

VAT?
import duties?
