iPad UK Price Increase.

You can get new ones on eBay for around £60-£70 so it's not that big of a deal. However, it would be good to buy it now before everybody raises their prices. Amazing to think the 9.7" Flagship iPad started at £399 just 6 months ago. Obviously there is the storage increase, but I'm just talking about entry price.

I dont think the iPad Pro was ever £399 was it? You can get an iPad Air 2 for £379 though.
 
I find it funny how consumers never look at their own government or who they voted for any other day, but when their Apple prices are up, bring the pitchforks!

No, I was saying the flagship 9.7" iPad was £399 6 months ago. I was talking about the iPad Air 2 (which was the flagship 9.7" at the time).
 
Isn't the 256GB 12.9" wifi now £10 cheaper (909 from 919)? Not much of a silver lining though.

Right, so in fact it has come down in price. The Air 2 was introduced quite a while ago now and is considerably less capable than the iPP. Not sure what point you are trying to make here.

A lot of increases:
Apple TV 4 - by £10
Trackpad 2 - by £10
Pencil - by £20
All iPhone cases - by £10
iPod Touches - At least £20
Base Watch straps - £10
iPad Pro 32GB 12.9 - by £50
iPad Silicone 'Case' - by £14
IPad Pro Keyboard - by £20
iPod Nano - by £30

Apple Watch 2 at £399 is also what I'd call an increase, was expecting something around £349. So again £50 'increase' with a freeze on the old model.

The Macs will no doubt go up in due course, probably at the re-design. The level of increase make the refurb store an almost steal with the Macbook, Macbook Airs and Macbook Pro's at the moment. New Macs will surely end up £50-200 more expensive than today's prices?!

I don't think iPod touches went up that much. Also, the Apple Watch series 1 starts at £269 and has the S2, so I don't think it's a massive deal for a starting price.

The iPod touch previously started at £159 and is now £179 and the Apple Watch series 1 has lost the power adaptor (which has now gone up from £25 to £29).

Yes I saw the price increase in accessories. I forgot the iPod touch started at £159.

I don't know what's so hard to understand about this.

6 months ago the latest and greatest 9.7" iPad was £399. Now it's £549.

A price rise of 37%?????? Yes, prices rise and sterling has lost ~15% recently, but it just seems excessive.

Oh, and please don't pretend the 'Pro' is somehow a different tablet from the 9.7" iPads that went before it. There were no price rises when the iPad 4 morphed into the 2 iPad Airs and the incremental update between the Air 2, (which was a substantial upgrade over the Air 1 with the long awaited 2gb RAM), certainly isn't worth paying more for.

I know the Pencil is important for some, (although I've yet to meet an ordinary user with one), but of course you pay extra again for that...

The iPod Touch base went up £20, the higher 128GB model went up by £40. Just seems excessive as it isn't a new product, hasn't had an update or anything. Similar with the nano, £20 jump on a £120 device is rather steep.

Depends what you mean by an "ordinary user" but since the Pencil only works on the 'Pro' model perhaps a 'Pro' user such as myself would be a better measure of Pencil usage and I used it every day for actual work (and leisure too).

As for the pricing - the iPad Pro models were brought in at a new price tier above the iPad Air 2 because it is indeed a new product with added capability. If a car manufacturer brought out a high end model (say a VW Golf GTi) then you wouldn't expect to get that for the same price as the basic trim model would you? Good luck arguing that at the dealership! So would then they say that the VW Golf's price has increased 30% just because the high end model is 30% more than the base model? No.

Anyway, whatever makes sense to you is fine by me, I just find your comparison a bit odd.

I hadn't checked the spec sheet at the time, but it doesn't matter.

My point is that it was dual core and faster.
The only obvious difference is that the S2 has a GPS, which makes no difference to my statement.

No it doesn't - The difference between the two is the lack of a GPS in the S1P. The speed is the same, and I was saying that it is faster at that price. So what if it has a different name, can we stop arguing over the name of a watch chip.
