What I'm thinking, is wait for the October event. Even though the rumours suggest no new iPads, I'm hoping the 12.9 is updated with a10x (iPhone 7 is currently more powerful the pro 12.9), true tone and the iPad 9.7 features at the least. Awesome would be 3D Touch and a new black colour.

Definitely wait. I'm expecting new iPads in October. More RAM in the 9.7, both getting the A10 leap in performance, I'd like to see 3D Touch too. I'm expecting the faster Touch ID too. The current one is frustrating to use because it's so much slower than the improvements in iPhones. Regardless, I'll be upgrading my iPad Pros to the new ones.

Second version is always better, with bigger improvements which makes the first version outdated. This is what Apple want.. However, I will probably hold off the next iPad Pro , let see what's going to happen, That's no reason to upgrade if they don't add more RAM, ,2 Touch ID , better Apple Pencil, better display., and a "MUST" feature which will differentiate from the IPad Pro 1 . If they add all this features, I Will think if I will upgrade. My Air 2 is doing fine. And let's see what's going to happen next year with iOS 11

I think it's highly unlikely they would adjust the prices of the iPads now if they were going to release an updated one a few weeks later. They would just introduce the updated one at the new price and adjust the other prices and storage options at that time.

So I think the next update to the iPads would be in 2017.
Definitely agree, they wouldn't have bothered with revamping the storage/pricing (including introducing 32 GB models on iPad models that previously weren't available in that capacity) if new iPad models were coming next month. I think the storage revamp is all the updates we will see until spring.
