Did you even bother to look through the thread? It has been posted about 3 times.

What is the easiest way to get these beautiful images (or others) onto iPad? I have been importing to iPhoto and syncing that "Event." Is that the easiest/quickest?

Thank you.

Surf to this page on the iPad, tap and save the image. Seems simple enough. If your using a laptop or desktop you can also email the images and read the email on the iPad and do the same, tap- save.

Syncing would be my last choice I guess. Too much work.

You're right, it is too much work. Sometimes with all the different ways to get something from one device to another I overlook the easiest.

Thank you again.

Per request here are a couple more. As it turns out it's not so easy to find images that you can get a good 1024 x 1024 cut out of.

Keep the ideas coming

I really like this one but is it centered properly -is that the problem you mention getting 1024x1024? If the white explosion ring were centered and the words recntered then it might look better if possible Plus does it work on both orientations? I'm thinking it might need to be smaller and then perhaps some space background photoshopped in to pad the edges That does sound like an lot of work but it is close to being a great iPad lock page. Thanks

The words are exactly centered on the canvas. I chose to position the worlds so that the word panic was centered inside the smaller world that is being destroyed. I chose this because it looked more aesthetically pleasing to me and for no other reason :) If you would like me to center the background differently I can w/ no problem. The image is large enough to allow for this.

I am currently using this exact image as my lock screen. It works great in both orientations. When in landscape view the lock screen bars encroach on the edges of the explosion a little but the words are still perfectly readable and in my opinion it looks great.

Here's a more centered version:
That is awesome. I was only suggesting a recentering of the title might be necessary after moving the background over, I didn't know that it was a separate layer that would not be affected. I'm not very good with photoshopping. I like this a lot . The colors look good with a black case and I like the Hitch Hikers Guide reference with a space picture. I plan to make this my locked splash page too when I get my iPad this Friday.
Thank you very much!

Man, if a 1024x1024 jpeg is too huge, it might be time to consider either a bigger monitor or a faster-than-dialup internet connection.

On second thought, my Cox cable modem choked on that image. Yes, please for the Love Of God make it smaller!!!!

I'm sorry you have a small pipe.

Actually it is in .png format not jpeg. I don't know if that is OK with the iPad but it must be if he prefers it.
Here is a clip about it by a branko collin http://www.xs4all.nl/~collin/png-eng.html
Nevertheless there are some good reasons to use PNG. So why should you use PNG?

* First, something can be said in favour of freely usable file formats for popular applications. Such formats are for instance JPEG, HTML and RTF. One such format for so called line art is PNG. Initiatives as the PNG one should be encouraged by the end user (the information provider on the Internet).
* Second, PNG offers better compression than GIF. Typically, my own pictures are two-third the size of their GIF counterparts. A careful estimation shows that the use of bandwidth on the Internet can be reduced by a noticeable amount if everybody would use PNG instead of GIF. To look at it from the information provider's point of view: One can put 30% more pictures on one's homepage or use pictures that are 30% larger without reaching the limit of disk usage (provided the ISP uses such a limit).
* The PNG format has more to offer. For instance, it can be used for 24 bit pictures (16+ million colours!). The structure is a bit more logical. You can use a text viewer to get some information from a PNG file. Author name and description are saved as plain text.

I didn't even think about TIMG tags so thanks for the friendly reminder.
(And I'm normally so annoyed by obvious lack of forum etiquette...stupid me :))

I chose to use PNG for a couple reasons:

1) Yes they work on the iPad
2) The quality vs. compression ratio is much better than either gif or jpg.
3) I feel that png is a vastly underused file format and like to promote it every chance I get :)

BTW, I feel I should mention that the images I've used are not mine and I don't intend to represent them that way. Most of them came from DeviantArt and I was already using them as-is for my personal iPad uses. I thought I would share them here for everyone else to enjoy.

Hint: mobile phones don't have 1024x1024 screens :)

BTW, if your image is > 800x800, use timg. That is a general guideline we use when determining whether to timg an image or not.

I'v just made some iPad wallpapers and I thought I would share them with everyone. I've based these to be on the home screen more than the lock screen, that's why they are all quite simple. (I think a cluttered image makes your home screen look messy, unlike the lock screen).

I would be super grateful if someone could take some screenshots of what these look like on the home screen too, as I'm from the UK I don't have a iPad yet.

Enjoy!

I really love the simplicity of the dark wood background. Thank you so much for posting.

I don't suppose Sandooches from Flickr is on this site? He did some great Green Lantern logo wallpapers for the iPhone, which I use, but an iPad version of each would be great.

Lantern wallpapers.

Unless someone can help me make a new set? I think those sources are too low res.
