FYI, I had a laptop stolen from my car, and according to Allstate auto insurance only covers things attached to the vehicle. (i.e. A stereo) I'm in Texas and it may vary from state to state.

Good to know if I ever have something stolen from my Geico insured car.

Depends on the details of the policy. Your policy may also have a deductible that may be about as large as a replacement iPad. e.g. $500.

If there is homeowners coverage, keep in mind that there is a deductible, plus wear and tear depending on the age of the item stolen. So as mentioned, it might not be worth going through the homeowners insurance. The insurance company would probably give you extra money if you bought aps from the aps store!

Yeah the homeowners option has already been discussed with my mom and she also agrees that it would not be worth it. I've decided to eat the charge. Just been trying to find out what company to go with the next time I get one, which might be in late January. Looks like the company I was inquiring about will be good.

I'm sorry your iPad was stolen. Since it happened while you were at work, did you check with your employer to see if it has some sort of coverage?

Also, you can claim the loss on your tax return. Or at least a portion of it. Theft and casualty loss.

Bummer
