iPad Wi-Fi + 3G Pre-Orders Now Shipping in U.S.

Are orders that were made after the date-change to May 7 still considered "preorders" to ship by late April? Ours was a company prize, and the boss was supposed to place the order on the 17th, but he procrastinated and didn't order it until sometime between the 20th and 23rd (instead of ordering it on the 17th he went out and bought his own iPad). We don't have access to the tracking info because, obviously, it'd take a couple days to get it from this guy.

I guess I'm wondering if we might still get it "late April."

I bought the 3G for my 2 week trip to CA. I thought "late April" didn't mean so late in April. I have a flight out tomorrow morning so the shipping address was changed to my destination since I found out they are being delivered on the 30th. But mine hasn't even been shipped yet. So I don't know if I am going to get it Friday, and not sure if I'm going to get it for my trip. Maybe I should just go to the Apple store and buy a 3G at 5pm.

I'm right there with you, I returned mine also and it has been the longest wait.
I returned a 32GB wifi for a 16GB 3G.... Still pondering whether to go back up to 32GB.

Anyhow I spoke to Apple a few minutes ago to check on my order, since the money is still there and it just says prepared to ship on the order status. She assured me that they are with FedEx already and as FedEx scans them onto the trucks we will be charged and receive our shipping information, but it is scheduled for delivery tomorrow 4/30! :D
 
I really wish Apple had an option to order online and have in-store pickup. Just something fun about hanging out in line at an Apple launch.

I think the Mrs. and I finally decided on the 3G for what we need,. but storage is the last question 32 or 64. Should be great as long as the lines aren't completely nuts! :apple:

I am excited! :) (although I could not hold myself and bought a WIFI iPad last week..., so now I will have 2)
 
I'm just glad I'm not the only one whose status is stuck at "prepared for shipping." Not that I want company in my misery (although that's nice), but the fact that there are others with this status is keeping me from going crazy and calling Apple every 5 minutes to see what the deal is.

If Apple has analytics on the Order Status page then they will think I am crazy I have auto refresh set to 30 sec.

I'm an idiot. I clicked the wrong tracking link.

FedEx tracking now indicates it's been picked up in PA, and will deliver tomorrow by 4:30pm. :-(

Patience...I ordered mine 4/14, and it changed an hour ago to shipped via FedEx...keep checking.
 
Prepared for shipment

Yeah I ordered the 64GB 3G model as soon as it was available for pre-order. Mine still says prepared for shipment with late April shipping listed. No tracking yet...WTF!!!
 
iPad 3G is shipping now

I ordered my iPad 3G on April 13, and today I got the note that it is shipping with expected delivery date: tomorrow at 3PM. Fedex is picking it up from Rancho Cordova, CA.
 
Not as worried

Order Status just changed to "prepared to ship".
"SHIPS" still reads late April, but the above is reassuring. Ordered on April 19th so was worried it wouldn't ship and arrive for Friday, but now I am more optimistic it will. Keep your fingers crossed as the status' are apparently being updated by the minute.
 
Just spoke with Apple Customer Support...

and asked if I should be concerned that my Amex card hasn't been charged yet for my iPad 3G. Rep said that the system doesn't charge your card until the shipper scans the unit into their system. She said not to worry that all that say "Ships late April" will be scanned in later this afternoon, cards will then be charged and tracking numbers will be available.

Always nice for us to know the full extent of the details, or we wouldn't be here reading these posts.

BTW, I'm loving the fact that those WITH the AT&T 3G service will also have access to all of the AT&T WiFi hotspots as well. Kind of seals the deal on that as well.
 
And in the last hour or so...

I got my tracking info...

The anticipation is killing me :)

I'm in the prepared for shipment boat, still @ 12pm PST. I'm fearful that I'm gonna get "juked" by the ships late in April disclaimer and not get delivery until Saturday. One day normally not a big deal but I leave town Saturday morning....argh the suspense
