like its not the 129 extra im concerned about, its the monthly cost. the fact ta 15 bucks a month for only 250mb doesnt sound like a whole lot.

Well, I use the $30 for 2GB option because I download/edit/upload drawings and designs to clients. I can't really do that on an iPhone; I need the larger screen from my iPad.
If you have an iPhone 4S and Macbook Pro, then really, the monthly charge on an iPad is probably just an excessive convenience fee. Unless if you absolutely want 4G LTE data speeds, stick with your 4S data plan and it should suffice.
