It can not be this hard to add new languages. I mean, they have the letter recognition already. They also have the dictionary and auto correct for so many languages.
Dutch was unofficially supported with one version of iOS 14, but just changing the keyboard language to Dutch and then starting to scribble. It worked perfectly. But we removed in the next update. It really got me wondering, why???

Am I missing something or is there no way so far to train personal handwriting (style) recognition on iPadOS? I don't understand why Apple is not offering this. It could make this feature so much more useful and, using privacy protocols of course, even make it so that other Apple devices (bought in the future) would be up to speed as well.

I just wish there was a way to 'Find My'...

Pencil...

I haven't found it yet...

Depressing...

What's driving me crazy is it's IN MY HOUSE, Somewhere...

I could be walking by it a dozen times during the day, and it's hiding from me.

I even tried a Bluetooth snooping app, to see if it was crying out from wherever it was hiding, and, nope. I couldn't find anything that 'looked' like the pencil.

The Newton had that, didn't it? Hmm...

Did they ask Jenny if they could use her phone number?
867-5309? There is an area code where that phone number is (was) valid, and people kept calling it. I think it was abandoned by the carrier because it was so abused. Obviously that was quite a while ago, but I thought it was funny...

Like the entry 'LOVE', in the yellow pages. It was a joke back when I was a kid. 'Love, like everything you can find it in the Yellow Pages', until people started trying to actually list their 'companies' under that category. Yikes....

Although you are completely right, the differences are in the pronunciation and some vocabulary. But the syntax and the grammar is exactly the same for all Spanish-speaking countries. In that case, I don't understand why is it needed to differentiate the different regions when we are talking mainly about recognition of written text.
My guess is that the recognition software will try sometimes to find the best match on a vocabulary set. Having separate sets for each region improves the chances of identifying the right word.

There are often slight changes (dialects) of the same language for different geographic areas and groups of people. It happens... The US is full of a variety of dialects, and not all of them are English.

Being that Mexico is in Latin America, I wonder what possible differences there might be between Spanish (Mexico) and Spanish (Latin America), regardless it's great to see a strong support for the Spanish language even if a little late.
México is considered part of North America, geographically. Latin America is a more vague term. I’d expect there’s a Portuguese (Latin America) too.

But you’re right: most differences in Spanish are in usage, pronunciation and customs.

Apple pencil hasn’t handled accented characters well, if at all, until now! Good to see!

No support for Dutch :-(

but it’s not like the regular Data Connectors are of any use. Half of the time they don’t work because Apple is too picky on the syntax of phone numbers, addresses, dates and times.

I do wish they would offer a decent address detector in Safari so Google searches would open in Apple Maps instead of Google Maps.

No the art of writing a tasteful love letter and actually not using any crap like lmao etc etc etc and the waiting that the person you sent that to half way across country and receiving a tasteful letter back in reply. Actually knowing what writing in cursive is. Just because you think it is better does not make it so neither does it being newer tech. That however is only my opinion and people may agree/disagree with it.
Oh I didn’t know we’re talking about intimate letterwriting know that my friend I fully agree with you all technology is always best.! There’s just some form of personal communication personal effort that’s there as I saw in the penmanship, I can’t deny.period!

but for learning the best note is the one that can always be with you accessible backed up and you can learn with.

thenewest generation can still, digitally write intimate letters, but with pic emojis, animations and their voice recorded which will always try o handwritten letters - just for the voice! One can fake intimacy with penmanship, but the voice, it’s timber, tone, etc cannot be faked completely as an astute person who knows you can always tell when ya faking it to make it.

the pen maybe mightier than the sword, but a careless whisper can stop an army.

Yes you're exactly right, Latin America is a cultural definition, not a geographical one, a part of Latin America is in North America (Mexico), another is in Central America and another in South America. I'll give this update a test drive on the weekend.

Please have the Nordic Languages be next. (Norwegian, Danish, Islantic, Finnish, Sami and Swedish)

C’mon we gave you Thor and all the other awsome Gods. Even Loki has become a much loved God.

If not we will have to unleash Ragnarök!

I swear IT knows where the pencil is, but I haven't upped the ante enough to get it to tell me. This 'brave new world' of AI smarter than humans is going to be fraught with issues... 'You have to EARN the right to get your pencil back! MWAH HAH HAH INSIGNIFICANT HUMAN'... It's unplugged, near death, but I still doubt it will tell me...:rolleyes:

Simple way to find an Apple Pencil, or anything else: just buy a new one and within hours the lost one will magically reappear.

Yeah, I'm well aware of the curative magic powers of 'retail therapy'. That has happened to me so many times to not be an actual force of nature. It's damned freaky how often that works. Like Matrix Freaky... o_Oo_Oo_O

I have a Logitech (Logi) Crayon, and it's so clunky, and primitive looking (and yet so awesome at the same time) that I'd think that even my subconscious would be remembering where we put the danged thing, but NO! *sigh* I will resist the need (it's not an urge, kudos to that effect) to replace it to coax the wandering Pencil to reveal itself. (I swear the wife has it just to drive me crazy!:D:rolleyes: (a short trip on a good day))

A corollary to the Law of Lost Things is that if one day you are thinking a lot about the lost item, like, all day, and you have decided to just buy the damn thing again, there is a strong probability that it will reappear within a day or two even if you don't end up buying it.
However, since you seem to be losing a lot of pencils, maybe it makes sense to buy new ones as spares!😇

It was my very first pencil. Let's not get into socks, and, well, even underwear. 😆:cool:

The wife found a Windows Pencil. It doesn't work, apparently, with Apple devices, but looking at how expensive the thing was, someone was hurting (at the time. It was years ago).

Oh, believe me, I went to Worst Try to get a new one, sure that it would kick start my anxiety addled mind to cough up the location of the errant Pencil, and, they didn't have any in stock, and nope, no miraculous appearance of that naughty Pencil. I didn't actually see the need for one, and actually am more upset because it's lost, than sitting here pondering how to use the iPad without it. It was really kind of thrilling to use it. Like using an ancient Palm Pilot, or Treo. Yeah, I'm weird, but I remember using the Treo, and aside from the OS sucking, it was cool, collecting all the assorted styli. I had at least a half dozen, and one from Symantec! But to spend over a hundred dollars for a stylus? OKAY, IT'S GUILT!!! I an furious that I paid so damn much for a piece of 'educated' plastic, and lost it IN MY OWN HOUSE! I am an above average human! I spend money on high priced crap I don't need, and then lose it, and can't find it. Capitalism in motion? I do laugh at it... 'Just buy another one!' the wife says. 'You can have mine!' she says...

The struggle is real...:rolleyes::cool:

You'll find it when you're looking for your missing AirPods Pro. I found my house keys three months after I lost them when I was searching for my wallet. Stick an AirTag on the  Pencil when you find it.

An AirTag on the Pencil? Wouldn't that be like wearing a helmet as a child? I was actually surprised that I couldn't find it through Bluetooth sniffing. It must either turn off/sleep, or it's already dead, or both. But wouldn't it be able to be woken up through Bluetooth?

Just the idea that THE iPad that it was used with can't find it is a surprise to me. I'm sure Apple probably *could* make it able to 'Find Me' for the Pencil. I mean, how could the company that perfected (largely) the 'Find Me' idea not include some way to locate the Pencil, and any other devices they might come up with. Hmm...

Maybe your cat thought it would make a nice addition to your neighbour's rose bed.

Apple do accept feedback like, 'Find My Pencil' or maybe retired CBP dogs retrained to find missing Apple products. Just avoid leaving your 'pot plants' hanging around. 😝.
