Maybe your cat thought it would make a nice addition to your neighbour's rose bed.

Apple do accept feedback like, 'Find My Pencil' or maybe retired CBP dogs retrained to find missing Apple products. Just avoid leaving your 'pot plants' hanging around. 😝.

.

Funny story, maybe, after a decade of running around with moderate/severe allergic symptoms, the wife finally got tested by an allergist. Turns out she is allergic to a surprising list of things. Mushrooms was a surprise. And cats was too. She looked at the cat we had and said 'I knew it!!!', but we kept him until he died of old age, and have never gotten another cat. Cats are great, well *some* cats are great. We inherited a cat from a great aunt, and it was the devil incarnate. It hissed and slashed at anyone that came near it, but would occasionally be found spooning one of us, and being very needy and affectionate. Weird cat. It went on a particularly evil snit, and we gave it to a cat rescue agency. Bye bye!!!

But, back to the Pencil. It would have been a 'next step' that would have been, apparently, very earth shaking. Imagine a corporation that realizes their device would likely be misplaced, and they introduced a way to locate it. I know, mind blowing right? Who would do such an insane thing...

Apple, with the *ping* feature on the Apple Watch to help people locate their iPhone, and it works in reverse too. And with their AirTag technology already in full development, they could have added some form of tracker to the lowly Pencil. Or I could just Gorilla Glue it to my hand.

I'm sure the Pencil will eventually be located, so it goes. Adding technology to enable Find My Pencil would sure make it seem archaic to lose something like that in the future. It would show that Apple cares. They support their users. Or maybe I need to take a nap...

Sometimes I give suggestions to Apple. This is their website for feedback: https://www.apple.com/feedback/ . They may add the feature to iOS15 then you can ping your pencil.
