I think the dev team has one good hack right now, and they probably want to wait to release it until 4.0 is already out so Apple can't patch it before the update.

I could be wrong. I know it's doable, it just depends on when they feel it's safe to release the JB to the world.

It would just suck if they wait to release it till 4.0 only to find that Apple patched it at the last minute. Then all the waiting will be in vain when we could've been enjoying it all along.

I guess I'm confused as to why it's useful to wait until 4.0. If they release it now then people can use it until Apple patches it (who knows how long that will take) and at worst people are stuck on the current fairly stable version of the OS (i think it's fairly stable anyway).

If they wait until this fall when 4.0 is released then again people can use it until Apple patches it. This is arguable worse because Apple's major versions of the iPhone OS are almost always buggy and followed quickly by a minor point release to fix issues. So not only will they patch it immediately, but jailbroken devices will be stuck on a buggy version of the OS. What am I missing?

No i'm sorry you got it all wrong. I'm a student, I got this to save on cash and not as a luxury device so paying 10$ for an app that I have no idea whether is good or not just doesnt make sense. You have money to spare? great for you, that's just makes you kind of a sucker aint it? unless you have **** load of cash. I value my money. They should make demo's or whatever to let us decide.

my 2 cents with anger.

Save on cash? I completely lost you there...

I have no idea why apps can't have a evaluation period before purchase, but I suspect it's by design.

Agreed. If you delete an app within 24 hours after purchase from the android marketplace, a refund is given. It would be amazing if this was implemented in the app store.

As far as jailbreak is concerned, it's hard to tell. I can see why theynare waiting until the 3G model is out. But I can also see why they would wait until 4.0 is out.

I just hope it's soon :D

Developers need to release demos. Its totally unacceptable that they don't. The chances of me buying something without a demo is pretty small. There has been quite a number of things that I purchase the full version after trying the demo only for a few minutes.

Screenshots can provide the same that a demo can.

(I want to point out that I am not suggesting jailbreaking is an acceptable alternative to demos or anything)
