Finally a bigger battery: great!

Gimped iPhone with hardware for bilateral charging: fail!

Most curious to see teardowns to confirm or deny the rumors that the pro has disabled hardware.

Im no engineer, but looking at the back panel, there appears to be nothing under that black shielding, where you would expect to see coils. Apple would NEVER just slap hardware into the phone to take up that precious space. Hold your hopes for next year.

Interesting what he said about the logic boards and the intel cellular chip.

Of course try to replace the battery with non-oem and fail.

With Ives gone now they can put bigger batteries erc.. and not shave mm every new phone
don't know if you are joking but if you recall the Samsung trial, the discovery documents show that iPhones are on a 3 year R&D cycle - that Iphone 11 was finalized 2 years ago and Ives was still there - I don't think he cares either way.

Would be interesting to see which components are replaceable (vs. locked down ones like the FaceID module, battery, etc.)

With the added thickness comes added weight. Apple's production information sheet says the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max batteries weigh 47, 48, and 65 grams, respectively, while the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max batteries measure in at 46, 41, and 50 grams, respectively.
The iPhone 11 Pro is 11 g heavier than the Xs. With 7 g of that coming from the battery, the rest, 4 g, might come from the third camera, the square glass camera bump, the slightly thicker (taller?) steel frame (to account for the 0.4 mm increase in thickness) and a slightly larger lens (due to its faster f-stop) for the 52 mm equiv. camera.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max is 18 g heavier than the Xs Max, 15 g of which coming from the battery, leaving a 3 g delta coming from other sources. This 3 vs 4 g difference is likely due to rounding in the reported figures. The extra camera, larger 'tele' camera and glass camera bump should weight exactly the same in both iPhone 11 Pro models. The increase in weight coming from the steel frame is thus probably negligible (and could even be non-existent if the shape of it has been slightly altered).

now give it a 1000 charge cycles lifespan like on the MacBooks instead of 500!

I have a two year old iPhone X that has been heavily used (7+ hours a day) and fully charged more than 800 times with 91% battery health. That's a dramatic improvement for me compared to prior iPhones.

No...i didnt asked about speed but faceID angle
the 30% faster it is ioS13, but not the angles. Next time read more carefully

From iphone 11 pro main page

"It works from farther away. At more angles, too"
Surely the larger 12mp sensor increases the viewing angle. i'll be impressed if it works when on a desk as at work i always have to pick it up to unlock it. which is a small cool improvement

It’s the same the 30% is just iOS 13 improvements

No no, the hardware is entirely new

It is not the normal front camera that affects the viewing angle. The IR camera and IR emitter are entirely changed. It indeed does work on a desk. I tested the early prototype of this last year

Apple on background already told Mashable that feature was not plan or build into this year's phone

"A person familiar with the matter told me it’s not something the company included and the inevitable teardowns of the phones won’t reveal any special coil for it. This highly positioned person at Apple also reminded me not to take all rumors as truth."

FYI no one will ever use bilateral charging.

FYI....You’re Wrong:D

Think about it, if somebody can top off their Apple Watch or AirPods by using the bilateral charging with the phone, you’re telling others that wouldn’t use it? That’s a brilliant little feature that may not necessarily be a ‘game changer’, but would suffice for those travel or simply don’t have access to a Charger when they want the extra battery life for other devices. It has its potential for those who clearly will take advantage of this feature.

For my iPhone X, coconutBattery shows a cycle count of 504 and 88% of the design capacity and the Settings > Battery > Battery Health section still says Peak Performance Capability. My iPhone 6 was down to 61% at 516 cycles, though it nosedived from there with 34% at 536 cycles (it should be noted that the battery age at that time was three years, whereas my iPhone X is obviously still below the two year mark).

I'm feeling optimistic that I'll get significantly more than 500 cycles out of my iPhone X battery. Though whether it lasts me a full three years (with let's say at least 60% design capacity), I'm not so sure.

I guess this is the trade off for no 3D Touch. I’m glad to have more battery life but do miss 3D Touch. Haptic touch just isn’t the same.

3D Touch was useless technology. Why do you think no competitors adopted it? They waited and saw that it ended up not being very useful. Apple never made a way to see which areas of the UI or apps featured any 3D Touch, and did an overall poor experience of spreading info about the feature. But the worst thing is that basically it’s a longpress. A longpress serves just about the entire same purpose, just eliminating the need for the 3D Touch gimmick in the first place...
