Agreed. The pro in particular looks hideous, with its 3 bulging cameras, and I won’t be buying another iPhone until they sort that out. The 11 is a bit better but the square camera looks weird too

Have you considered the XR? It’s a beautiful device with the same specs more or less and exactly the same experience as the 11 but without the square camera and with some nicer colours. The XS looks nice too

when the iphones first got leaked, i thought they were the most hideous. changed my mind about that after apple showed the final product, and especially seeing it in person and owning it. i think it’s one of the most sleekest iphone designs in my opinion.
They did a pretty okay job given the circumstances, and definitely looks a lot better than those old unofficial renders. I still dislike it, though.

Looks are completely subjective. No one is right, no one is wrong. Let’s stop berating others that don’t share the same opinion as ours. This forum is getting quite a reputation for it.

Personally when I first saw mockups of the 11 Pro I thought it looked ridiculous, the camera bump I mean, but once I got it in hand I instantly thought it looked incredible...and still do. That’s my opinion, I don’t care if anybody agrees or disagrees. It’s my truth, not the truth.

I’m not much of a fan of the camera hump, though that’s subjective, but unless they make the phone thicker, it’s necessary for now.

Fortunately, I spend very little time staring at its backside, I find it to be impractical operating my phone in such a way :p

Seriously though, if you’re so offended by it’s design that a thread stating such was needed, I’d probably suggest not buying it and waiting to see if next years phones are less offensive to you. Which pretty much negates the need for the thread, oh well, I’ve typed this now, may as well post it.

Ugliest iphone ever? Did you see the 6S? Those antenna bands...

Never knew antenna bands were disliked by people up until you mentioned it and they look ok to me. The notch and the 3 giant cameras are the worst thing in iPhone 11 Pro imo. This design is controversial, it's not easy for people to say yes we like this design.

Wow. Really? Those antenna bands are hideous! I’d take the full screen and notch over them any day. The cameras look better in person, they make the phone look distinctive. I personally like them, you don’t have to. Each to their own.

Well I will, at least as far as the notch is concerned, I will (and have before) say, I like it.

Not because it’s aesthetically pleasing, though I find it fairly inoffensive. What I do like is the practicality of it. It was always going to happen, there were some of us who predicted as much back when Apple bought PrimeSense in 2013.

While many will probably argue that it eats up some screen real estate, I see it as the opposite entirely. It actually gives us two little sections of extra screen real estate to house things like the time, battery, signal and so on.

The fact is, at the moment, the tech for FaceID is not small enough to conceal in a thin border, so there were four options available as far as Apple is concerned.

1. Make the screen shorter, to accommodate a bar along the top of the phone. Into which FaceID, the speaker and so on are placed.

2. Make the screen as tall as possible, but use a portion of it for the necessary technology and give users a little extra real estate either side of it.

3. Make the screen shorter still and leave FaceID out, instead using a Home Button at the bottom, until FaceID is small enough to be contained in a tiny border.

4. Use the entire front of the device for the screen and use an under-display fingerprint recognition technology which (at the time) was deemed to be slower, less accurate and certainly less secure than FaceID. Some of which is still true.

I know which one I’d go for every time.

You're complaining about the back of the phone which is the part of the phone you won't ever see.
And yet…the majority of iPhone users place their devices face down (so I am told). What happens when you place your iPhone face down? Are you still looking at the front?

The next argument (I've been through this before) will be "So what, you aren't staring at the back", or "Most people use a case so you're not going to see the back anyway."

Both true. But in the first instance, the back is what you are looking at when you pick the phone up (if you lay it face down). So you DO see the back. In the second instance…well I don't use cases, but even so, it's still the back you're seeing first when you pick it up.

This is a tired old argument. It's as if Apple only sells a device with one side (the front). The back is never seen, but somehow people manage to take photos and hold their phone from the back. You're going to see the back at some point.

I suspect you probably meant that because the front is the most used it's really not relevant how the back looks. But that's another discussion.

Aesthetics is the least of my concerns with a tech device. It is a tool to be used, I only care about its function
I hear that a lot around here. I'm the opposite, I already have a device that can do what I want it to do so I'm asking Apple to make it look nice. Everyone is different, but I do wonder if there is ever a point where a tech device can look so fugly (not necessarily the iPhone, any device) that even those who preach function over form would be loathe to purchase.

Move along. Nothing to read in the original post.
If you don’t like it, don’t buy it, as others have pointed out.
This is simply your opinion based on your likes/dislikes. Others feel differently.
I personally love the camera arrangement and the notch.
Must be a slow day to waste server space on this thread. Please, go Android and complain on those forums.
And yet you took the time to read the thread then comment while sharing your opinion. 🤦‍♂️

Any posting in this forum opens up debate whether you agree or not.

I have a 6S+. I hate the bands, still do. I got the device because I was porting carriers and that was the iPhone model at the time, not because I wanted one.

I'll take the bands over that monstrosity of camera bump that is present now however. It gets worse with each new model. I used to think the bump on my 6s+ was fugly (still do) but compared to every model afterwards it's not as bad.

On another note, my 6s+ is the first iPhone I've owned that has never needed any service. 4 years now and still going. My iPhone 5 on the other hand is on the 4th replacement and needs to be replaced again.

Hello, perhaps my thread title sounds a bit harsh but iPhone 11/Pro isn't really''attractive''
Maybe for most of you, design/esthetic isn't fundamental but for me it does matter a lot
I currently own Airpods, iPad and iPhone SE, they all looks pretty and sleek
Not to mention about Macbook, iMac, keyboard, trackapd, any Apple products look damnn good
Why their own flagship doesnt sound appealing?
Dont get me wrong, its a pure beast according camera and battery life, but paying 999$ iPhone, i would expect more about esthetic!
Its time to replace my iPhone SE and my main choice -> iPhone XS or Galaxy Note 10
Because both of them look sexy to me, not 11/Pro

Fine. Just wait a few more months and there will be an iPhone SE 2. Problem solved, eh?

You know what? Honestly? The camera bump isn't a big deal. Apple made the best of that arrangement and it looks far better than the original renderings looked.

The silver iPhone 11 Pro looks stunning, IMHO.

Its hardware compromise instead of design
Antenna bands on 6/6S -> on iPhone 8 its much more discret, that means they could do since the beginning
Wobbly camera on 6/7/8 -> those iPhone were so thin
Face ID notch on X/XS/11/Pro -> same as antenna bands, they could reduce sightly more but to be honest even if its ugly as aesthetic, Face ID brings new and secured way of unlocking phones
In my opinion, Apple lost design appetite
That s why Jony Ive left it
I know this guy is criticized by few/many:
He brought an iconic design product:
- iPhone 4/5
- iMac
- Macbook Air
- Apple Watch
Yes, he was obsessed with thickness but his creations was stunning and sleek
During Jobs/Ive era, it wasn't the best phone on the market only, it was also damn beautiful
That's Apple magic, you wont find it in any other company/product because Jobs was so obsessed with perfection!
Software, ergonomic, design, specs, all does matter to him
Its similar to car analogy, if you bought premium car, do you neglect aesthetic?
I m still thinking when you buy such car, aesthetic is a part of purchase decision
The thread title looks little bit provoking, however i still believe its the best iPhone in term of specs (battery life/camera)
