Smaller notch & USB C - But Apple should go all out USB-C. No lightning on any device. If the 11 Pro Max didn't have the USB-C charge cable, you still would not be able to connect an iphone to a USB-C equipped MBP via cable straight out of the box! (Dongles not included/no additional purchases)

I can’t see Apple going back on the battery life the pro max has right now, so what they do with the refresh rate will be interesting.

Apple saved themselves lots of room to upgrade the 12 without even trying;

Qualcomm modems
Reverse wireless charging
6+ GB RAM
Time of flight sensor
Focus pixels on telephoto and ultrawide lenses (Deep Fusion)
Greater than 2x zoom on telephoto
USB-C

I own the 11 Pro Max. The battery and display is killer. The battery never dips below 60% for me even after 4 or 5 hours heavy use. The screen display is great. So how does Apple bring a phone to the market that people will buy next year?

My 3 big suggestions:
120 HZ rate- Looks buttery smooth on IPads
Pencil Support
Multitasking

Moderate suggestions:
USB C- OK but I have lightning chargers and docks
Reverse Wireless Charging- Would be nice, but reduce battery life
Reduce notch- You don’t notice it once you have phone
Bigger phone- How much bigger can it get? Heard 6.8 but that is 0.3 inches and you can’t make it more comfortable in the hand
5G- Good future proof but will not convince a lot to swing over
Reduce Bezels- Bezels are already pretty thin, don’t want to make it more shatter proof
Add a 4th camera-

I skipped the 2018 and 2019 models, and while i was tempted by the Xs Max last year, i will definitely wait, atleast until next year, or until 2021/2022, it depends what Apple does with the next iPhone. I hope they make the notch smaller, and also the bezels. Rumored is a 6.7" display, same size as the current Max, just with smaller bezels or notch. 120 Hz would be nice aswell, rest are features i do not want or need. 5G? There is almost zero support for 5G right now. 5G will not be ready for the 3 - 5 years, i think. Useless to have, 4G is fast enough already. And i think we have enough cameras too.

6 GB RAM or more
USB-C
Smaller Notch or none at all
90 Hz or more

I've been using Android for most of the time I've had a phone. I almost switched to the Pro Max, but I think the iPhone 12 will be a bigger upgrade IMO so what's what I'm waiting for, in order to make the switch.

Even though I like the battery life currently, more is always better.

Higher resolution screen

Higher refresh rate

I’d take a mildly larger screen

No notch

Magnetic charger, none of this plug in crap

Made of ceramic instead of glass

Significantly faster charging

Higher tech modem (have to carry note with me for fringe areas)

Significant upgrade to Siri

More shock resistance

Higher water resistance

Brighter screen

That being said I love my 11ProMax and will have to be very impressed with the US’s 5g network or I probably won’t buy the 2020 model.

I’m about to upgrade to the iPhone 11 Pro from my XR and thought about waiting until next year but the OLED display and cameras are a huge upgrade from my XR. May upgrade next year but think the 11 Pro is a much bigger upgrade from the XR than the 2020 iPhone will be to the 11 Pro.

My iPhone 12 (or beyond) predictions:

- Thinner (like the iPhone 6 6.9mm again) - possibly made from two sheets of glass moulded together :D
- Lighter in weight (more like 120ish kg again)
- 120Hz Promotion display
- 5G finally - woohoo!
- eSIM only / no SIM-tray (remember this is Apple we're talking about)
- USB-C or no connector at all (Qi only with included charger)
- Reverse charging (wireless and Wired) - by Qi/wireless (for AirPods) and also via USB-C on the iPhone 12 to a lightning connected accessory (for AirPods)
- Next Major revision of AirPods (could be a number of years away to have no connector at all - Qi only). Mac keyboard and mouse will also be updated around this time to USB-C with features like TouchBar on the magic keyboard - marking the end of the Lightning connector on any new products from Apple and the transition to USB-C is complete.

Just went to look for a photo of what an iPhone as a single sheet of glass might look like and came across "Jony Ive wants iPhone that looks like a single sheet of glass ...". Great minds think alike :D

Doing something about the visually offensive three cameras on the back would be a good start
Complaints about the camera aesthetics are kinda silly imo. Apple have a habit of falling under the “ugly” category only to be later considered iconic and replicated by competitors.

Also, I’ve heard the camera module compared to a ceramic cooker hob but are we forgetting that Huawei were using the same design language several years ago and if memory serves, critics were raving about it?

In this case It could be said that Apple are the ones kinda replicating and slightly pimping the old Huawei design. Not identical but hella similar 😉

This-

Google Assistant is way ahead, that is why I won’t buy the Home Pod.

Haha, indeed! Huawei were on to something with the Mate 20 Pro and now the industry catches up a year later.

I really liked that camera design on my Mate 20 Pro and wish the the P30 Pro I have now also used it.

I like the simplicity of the Camera design on my XS Max but actually love the attention to detail Apple put in on the iPhone 11 Pro/Pro Max camera design, it looks great, IMO!
