Hi!
I know there are similar threads to this already, and I don’t know if yet another thread will bring anything new to the table, but here goes...
I have owned an 11 pm since launch date, and I’m mostly very satisfied with it. But there are times when I find the size a little too big, and the phone a little too heavy. Especially when I put a case on. Do you think I’ll regret it if I moved to a regular pro? In other words, have any of you done this, and what are your thoughts and experiences. I love the epic battery life and the bigger screen for watching YouTube videos etc. But, I usually use my iPad Pro for Netflix etc. So the video watching on my phone is limited to some YouTube clips and an occasional movie trailer or two. My main usage is social media (Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok etc), sms, web browsing, music and phone calls. Will I be missing much by “downgrading” to the regular pro? The regular size is a bit lighter and smaller, and I feel it is easier to use one-handed. But the trade-off is the smaller battery. But how much difference would it make? And is it worth the trade off? For you who have the regular sized phone.. do you make it through the day without charging? My last phone was the X. And I remember the battery being quite “bad”. I would often top it up during the day or have like 15-20% left at the end of the day. With my 11 pm, I usually end the day at +/- 50%. Any opinions?

I made the switch and the weight / ease of one handed use on the pro outweigh the screen on the Max for me. I have no regrets. I do miss the extra battery life but not a deal breaker.

I would do it again - the pro is a much more manageable size unless you have large hands.

You’ll have pros and cons over smaller form factor being lighter and convenient but you will naturally miss the bigger display and the Amenities it brings in use.

Only you will know if it was the right choice or not after you use it for a while and that is subjective to everyone.

More importantly, you should learn how to break up your thoughts with paragraphs.

You’ll probably end with 20+ % at the end if the day. Should be fine I think.

More like in the 40’s. There’s not much difference between the two at all in terms of battery life.

Going to the 11 Pro is the biggest upgrade you can do in terms of size/weight/comfort/screen size/one hand use.

The downsizing of the screen will be the biggest impact. But... we all have different interests. :) I would check it out an Apple store and compare the two if you haven’t already.

I’m in the other boat. Got the 11P, want 11P-Max. I had the XSMax & loved the display. It’s also cool to have the ability to use landscape in notes, messages, mail... etc to see both the note/msg/mail origination and content. The smaller sizes don’t allow this and it drives me nuts. I don’t mind the smaller display - just it’s disabilities!

Imo Pro size is much more suitable as a daily driver if you don't watch tons of YouTube videos or spend 4-6 hours in games. Regarding battery life, the difference is not more than 5-7% from what you get on Pro Max.

It really depends on what is important to you. Go to a store and compare it. Or you can get a Pro and you have til 1st week of Jan to return it if you rather stay with the Max. The holiday return policy is longer.

If you like good cell reception you will regret it. I’ve owned every iPhone since the 3G and this is the worst coverage ever.

I went from 6 Plus/6S Plus/7 Plus to the XR, and liked the XR screen size, but even that isn’t great for one handed use so am picking up the 11 Pro (non Max) today (for many reasons not just screen size). After handling both the XS (11 Pro) and several friends 11 Pro Max I like the smaller portability of the 11 Pro. Because it’s full screen, the smaller form factor works better for me. The Max phones are beautiful but are too big for me.

Only you can decide what works for you and as others have noted, try the 11 Pro out. Honestly, buy the 11 Pro, use if for several days. Keep your 11 Pro Max and if the Pro works better, sell the Max. Otherwise, return the Pro.

I do wish they would enable landscape view for the pro. It wouldn't be quite the same, but it would still work well.

To the OP, it really depends on how much of a premium you put on the screen size. I surprised myself by preferring the Pro, because the screen was still spacious and the feel of the phone was *much* better IMO. I don't think I'll ever go back to the "Max"-sized phones.

Since you're finishing the day with 50% of your battery left on the Max, I would factor that out of the equation. You'll finish the day with less on the Pro, but you'll reliably finish the day and that's what really matters.

The 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max have exactly the same modem, do they not?

The bolded seems like a blanket statement. I easily could make the opposing argument that I’ve had _zero issues_ with reception in my geo-area (FTR, I’ve had almost every iPhone in comparison.). Don’t you think it’s worth noting that LTE coverage/carrier are completely involved? [Rhetorical] It’s equally important.

I have the 11 Pro Max and XS Max as a work phone. Reception is better on the XS every single time, everywhere in California on AT&T Your experience may vary mine hasn’t.

Max is almost always 1 bar better and I often get no signal or one bar on my 11 Pro. It’s beef very frustrating.

It’s just personal preference on which size is better for you. I have the 11 and wouldn’t want anything bigger as this is borderline for me

The absolute best way is to actually use the smaller size for a few days, I knew within 2 days of using the smaller 11 Pro that it wasn't going to work for me personally. In your case you may have the opposite opinion.

If you can, buy direct from Apple and you can return within 14 days (I think the holiday return policy is in effect now so may even have until January 2020 to return).

Smaller battery on the regular Pro? are you kidding? This thing lasts me 2 days easily with heavy usage and 3 days with light usage. I don't know what more do you need. the 11 Pro is the perfect size yet still packs the same awesome camera and features. Go for it. I personally HATE large phones. I want a phone that feels like a "phone not a phablet. Easily pocketable, easy to use one-handed.

If I were you, I'd go to Apple and purchase the 11 Pro. The holiday extended return policy puts you into early January for a full refund. If you buy now, you'll have 1 month to use the 11 Pro. Decide then to keep the 11 Pro or return in. This is the time to see whether you want to go down in size. Any other time is only 2 weeks.

I had the X, then the XS Max. I got the 11 Pro Max but decided it was too bulky to carry around so I went back to the 11 Pro. Both devices are fantastic, but I think in the end I'd rather have a lighter phone vs a larger display. The 5.8" screen is still a very nice size but I really prefer that smaller form factor. Having a nearly 1/2 pound phone in my pocket is not for me.

And since it appears this is the last year of the 5.8" size, I'm glad I went back to the 11 Pro. This will make for a nice backup phone whenever I do upgrade in the future. A 6.1" Pro phone is probably as large as I could tolerate.

Another thing that made my decision easier is I don't watch movies or tv shows on my phone. That's what my iPads are for.

I have a "regular" 11 and it seems pretty good to me. Looked at the Pro/ProMax...but are they really worth the extra $300/$400 vs the 11? I get that the screen is sharper on the Pro's and they have the 2x zoom, but from what I read my 11 has a better battery than the Pro and slightly less than the Pro Max. And Pro Max weighs a ton.
