I always had the plus/max size until I upgraded to the X years ago, since then I have been upgrading and staying with the same size. Recently upgraded to 11 pro with no regret. Wife has stuck with the plus size, and recently upgrade to the 11 pro max and I use her phone time to time. personally I don’t miss the bigger screen at all. Ever since Apple switched to full screen, you are essentially getting the previous plus size screen (bit smaller in the width).

I hated the max/pro size since it was much heavier, harder to use with one hand, and also always made my dress pants wear out in the front pocket with the outline of the phone.

Daily use, I have no regrets, there’s ample amount of screen for videos and app usage. Plus if I am going to watch a movie, I would watch on my big screen tv. Also easier to fit in my gym pants and no need to leave it out when working out. Also fits in my car cup holder, lol.

it all depends on your daily usage. Some people swear by the big screen, just because it looks amazing, however when it comes to daily usage, smaller wouldn’t make a difference as much as some people think. Sure screen is amazing on the bigger screen, but from my experience you get used to the smaller screen pretty quick. And will become normal.

Lastly, battery life is so much better with the 11 pro vs the X. I barely made it thru a day with my X, with my pro I rarely worry about battery life unless i forget to charge the previous night. However keep in mind, battery life is also dependent on your usage, so if you constantly watching videos and playing games, obviously battery will not last as long.

The pro almost seems too small IMO. I’m actually thinking about going back to the 11. 6.1” is a nice sweet spot, IMO. Love everything else about the PM but the size at times.

I had the XS then XS Max, then 11 Pro Max. Had the pro Max for one month. Then switched to the 11 Pro. For me, the improved one handed usability and overall handling is worth the trade off of a little bit less battery life and smaller screen.

Still though, when I see the big screen on the Max, it is gorgeous.

Is there a slight battery difference between the two? Some users report %20-40 difference at the end of the day.

In my usage, I didn’t see large enough of a difference to cause me battery anxiety when I use the 11 Pro over the Pro Max.

How's the battery life of the Pro (non-Max) compared to your XS Max? I just went Max to Pro Max and I am honestly thinking of going to the Pro, for the reasons you'd stated earlier. Be nice to have a lighter phone in my pockets too, but I'm very much on the fence about it.

Hi !

I’m French : sorry for my bad English.

I had the same feeling about the weight and the size of my iPhone 11 Pro Max. Sometimes, it feels a little too big but the screen real estate is fantastic. I have large hands and it’s difficult to use in one hand but absolutely fantastic in two hands, particularly when using the keyboard.

2 days ago, I ordered a small iPhone 11 Pro to try it. I was really determined to switch to the smaller size.

After one day Of use, I returned the smaller Pro 😅. The phone is great to use in one hand, it feels lighter but it’s incredibly dense ! I was negatively surprised about that. It’s amazing in one hand but I felt a little bit compressed in this display. It’s not small but not large -> I felt like I was very cramped.

When I got back to the iPhone 11 Pro Max. I was delighted to love its screen and its comfort even more. I can't find either of the two formats absolutely perfect. they both have compromises.

to meet the request of the first person, I think you will regret the transition to the small iPhone. You don’t seem to be permanently disturbed by the dimensions of the 11 Pro Max. If your feeling is episodic, it’s not prohibitive enough to pass on the small format.

It's a shame because the sweet spot screen size (to me anyway) is the 11 6.1' I had a X and it felt cramped to me but the Max is a little big.

i can tell you the Pro vs Pro Max there is a significant difference but you won’t be worried about running out of battery with the Pro.

I recall some people posting that the small Pro is about the same as the XS Max was and the new Pro Max is an improvement over both - not 100% sure on this though.

I have the Pro (downgraded from Pro Max) and the battery life is good. There are a few rare occasions when I wish it had more but that’s usually very heavy usage / when traveling. It can easily go a full day on a single charge.

Hey thanks for your reply, I actually returned my Pro Max for a Pro a few days ago. So far I'm very happy with the battery life. I'd definitely say it's on par with my Xs Max, I charge it every other day like I did on my Xs max. The Pro Max was insane, I was charging it every 3 days, but I like the smaller more pocket friendly size of the Pro. For now anyway...

that is exactly how I felt after switching - no regrets, the pro is a great phone

Imo Pro size is much more suitable as a daily driver if you don't watch tons of YouTube videos or spend 4-6 hours in games. Regarding battery life, the difference is not more than 5-7% from what you get on Pro Max.
I spend a good amount of time on games, but not 4+ hours. I have the smaller iPhone 11 Pro. Still love it's size on games. The games I play are portrait orientation 97% of the time (eg. Flappy dunk, Golf Blitz, Golf Clash - All portrait orientation games).

I have the Pro max at the moment and came from an iPhone 8 Plus (Also owned a XS), I personally couldn't go back to a small screen now.... also the Max seems to be holding its resale price much better on eBay etc

I went from a 8 plus to a 11 pro. I def miss the size. I think 6.1 is perfect for me but I’m going back to the bigger size.

I was one that had the plus size phones for a couple of models. I went for the XS Max and although the same size it felt heftier in the hand. Almost felt like I’d hit the limit. I went to a smaller phone - mainly due to having unusable service with the 2018 models. I did get a smaller phone and it’s perfect. Easier to slip in a pocket or flip belt when I don’t have my purse.

I made the switch myself when I lost my Max on a bus (no AppleCare with Theft and Loss in Canada). I forgot how much I love the size and though I’m not glad to pay for another phone, I am glad for this smaller size again.

I fell in love with the Plus devices, and then they came out with the iPhone X and I returned it because it was to small, and I didn't want the 8 Plus because it was old tech at the time. So when Apple announced the XS Max I jumped on it and now I have the 11 Pro Max.

I went from the pro To the promax and I have no regrets. I don’t think I could downsize, the bigger screen is just too nice for reviewing content. But I definitely would enjoy the smaller form factor

I went from Pro Max to Pro specifically for the smaller size. I found it difficult to one-hand the Max with a baby on the other arm.

What part of the size do you miss? I also went from the 8 plus to the 11 Pro. The actual screen size of the 11P is LARGER than that of the 8+. So you have a bigger screen on smaller phone. Do you just miss having a large phone with no actual gain in screen size? I actually love the 11P. it's the perfect compromise for me. The bigger screen I was used to, the smaller form factor I wanted. Battery life is better than the 8+ by a fair amount. And it's a pretty impressive device. The screen is great. I resisted FaceID for a long time but I'm really loving it (when I'm not wearing a mask). I'll probably get the 12Pro when it comes out just because of the 5G network (since I have TMO, I can actually benefit from those bands now). Otherwise, this is one of the best iPhones ever.

Honestly I could have stayed with the 8 plus. I had it for a couple years and loved it. I spent so much time trying to decide between all three phones before preordering. The 11pro is a great phone, no lie and I did love how handy it was. I love the full screen also and I thought that would appease me in the smaller phone. If I could go back to September, I would have gone with the lavender 11 actually but I wanted the better camera or I would have returned the 11p for the max. I think 6.1 is actually the perfect size for me. I have seen the 12 rumors and although the possible 6.1 pro intrigues, eh. I don’t know. I guess I just really wanted the bigger screen and I can wait for the 12 form and 5g to be perfected. I have the max now and it has been like finding an old friend and hopefully I can keep a few years (if I can stop myself from upgrading). Oh and YOLO I guess rn lol

I would never downgrade to the iPhone 11 Pro.

If the iPhone 11 Pro Max did not exist, I would still be rocking my iPhone X (which is my secondary phone now)

Man I went with the Max this year and I completely regret it.

I always carry a 13" MBP or an iPad with me, whenever I spend more than 1 hour looking things up and with the Max it's just way too tall and heavy for me.

That's my 2 cents but next year I'm definitely going with a regular Pro.

If you like good cell reception you will regret it. I’ve owned every iPhone since the 3G and this is the worst coverage ever.

This is 100% untrue.

I used to own an Intel iPhone 7, the reception was fine. Except when the earpiece failed. And Apple replaces the earpiece.

I owned 4 different iPhone X pieces. All Qualcomm. The reception sucked on each one. 4G/3G sucked too.

My current 11 Pro is better for calling as well as data compared to any iPhone I’ve previously owned.

I have both the Pro Max and the Pro (one is for work), and I significantly like the smaller pro better. I have big hands, and love the big screen, but it's just too heavy for me at this point. Also I like to wear shorts more often than not (and now with WFH i'm never in pants, hah!), and the PM just isn't a good fit. I think once the Pro goes up to 6.1", that'll be my cap in terms of size.

Battery life is fine. I have it on a wireless charger most of the time. Screen size is up for you to decide - I adapted pretty quickly and I'm on my iPad or MB most of the day. My phone is really just for calls.
