Houston Texas delivery. 2 watches and iPhone. iPhone and one watch in Louisville KY. The other watch in San Antonio Texas. Never seen a device go from KY to San Antonio. Then to Houston. Every year. Every device was from Kentucky to Houston. Any Houston people with a San Antonio TX scan ?

Due to IAH being closed till tomorrow afternoon they're probably going to truck them in from SAT

Can someone explain this....
My phone arrived in Louisville, KY earlier today straight from ZZ (no Anchorage scans) but now KY doesn’t show on my tracking and it arrived in Philadelphia, PA. I’m in DC Metro and they usually go to IAD (Dulles) before hub and truck.
I’m not worried about getting the phone tomorrow, I was just wondering why past IAD to go to Philadelphia...
UPS will likely use the most efficient routing possible to cover the majority of its shipments. My best guess would be that there aren't too many items going to the DC area for tomorrow, so they chose to route your shipment through Philadelphia, where a truck would be waiting to take it to the regional feeder hub (possibly along with other packages too) that serves your local UPS station. I've seen cases where they will use air to get a package to a somewhat distant (but close enough) hub during the daytime hours, and then truck it to my regional feeder hub overnight, before it gets sent to the local station.

Arrival scan at my distribution center.

My boss and I have been going back and forth about who’s phone will arrive first (his is coming from ATT Business via FedEx).

My only guess is to avoid the flooding going on in Houston. Maybe it’s easier to get it there by truck instead flying it directly into Houston?

I have never had that happen before. I actually expect a flight from Philly to DC overnight and in the truck in the morning (even though UPS doesn’t deliver to my neighborhood until after 5pm).
That is how it usually goes but it’s never gone to Philly first.

Storms in Houston, had to fly into San Antonio and trucking into Houston hopefully she makes it, a lot of highways are closed...

Just as a point of reference (I'm in the Charlotte metro area), I've had shipments from the west coast get flown to Columbia, SC or Louisville, KY, and then get trucked to Greensboro, NC, before they return (backwards, yes) to the local station.

It’s all about them optimizing their loads for best efficiency while still meeting the delivery guarantee.

So, just checked my tracking number and shows arrival scan in San Antonio at 7:43pm which is where I live and now my scheduled delivery date has been updated to “tentative”. What gives?!!

Also, Houston's UPS operations are closed today. Looking pretty iffy for Houston deliveries tomorrow.. https://www.ups.com/us/en/service-alerts.page?id=alert1

True, and their delivery guarantee for the Worldwide Express Saver product is end of day on the scheduled date (9/20). Depending on your local station and how many shipments they have, they could come as late as 11 pm and still are considered to have met the guarantee.
