Something really similar happened to me last year. I held the phone to be held for pick-up at the CC but after the Destination Scan in the morning, it didn’t show any further updates. For hours. There was an update or two after that but nothing that said ready for pick-up. I waited it out and didn’t contact UPS, hoping it would resolve itself.
At about 4 pm, when it still wasn’t showing as ready for pick-up, I just went to the CC and told the employee about my situation. He was really nice and said he would go check in the back. Initially, after a few minutes, he came back and said he couldn’t find it but would check somewhere else. He disappeared again and after a few minutes came back with my delivery and gave it to me. He said he wasn’t sure what had happened or why the UPS system hadn’t been updating my status properly. He suggested that the package wasn’t scanned correctly and wasn’t placed in the right place at the CC. So it sounds like it may have been a combination of employee error and system error - not really sure.
I was frustrated that I sat around all day anxiously waiting for UPS to update its system status, when it seemed to be sitting at the CC because of some error(s) along the way. Still, that frustration lasted for just a minute as I finally had the phone in my hand. It really is a first world problem and I’m sure I contributed to it by having the phone held because I was impatient enough to wait a few more hours to have it delivered to my home. Does UPS’ pick-up system need work? Absolutely. I was just happy to have my phone at the end of all of it!
