Still not sure why Apple so obsessed with a new color. I have a case for my iPhone all the time, and I don't even remember what color is my iPhone.
Sure you don’t remember the color of your phone.....suuurrreee. lol. I get the notion that a case covers it but:

1: Some people rock naked phones
2: Some people use clear cases (me)
3: The color is visible around the camera so you might as well choose a color you like.

Think Apple missed something with this one. I think they should have released a darker hue of purple along side, akin to the blue they currently have. I know they have the case if you want darker though.

So the reviews are how it is a specific shade of purple and not "purple" purple? OK.

I don't case my blue iPhone 12 Pro, it is risky, but it is beautiful.

Kinda wonder why iJustine's thumbnail has a lens flare that isn't attached to any light source.

JJ Abrams is now directing iJustine videos.

I think it's gorgeous. I'd have been very tempted if that'd been an option on release (but then the black is also lovely).

Edit: Actually you know what? Those videos have made me change my mind. It looks great in the promo shots but in those more real-life like videos I think it's a bit ugly. Huh.

Ultimately, it's the consumers who are "so obsessed" with the colors, otherwise why would Apple make them if no one bought anything other than black or white devices? Many people don't use a case, and even when you do, you can still see the phone's color around the cutouts in the case (camera bump, silent switch, speakers, etc.) and of course there's clear-cases that let you see the entire phone.

people debating on why colors on an iPhone are so important..well for me the color of my product matters a lot (hence my username). i always believe if I'm going to spend money on something it better i get a color that pleases my soul, regardless of its going to be inside a case or not. for me i sometimes take my iPhone off the case when I'm indoors cause why not

Yeah. Honest question: how many people DON'T have a case for their phone. Everyone I know does.

My case covers the entire back except the camera slot. It provides a bit of drop protection, adds a little texture for better grip, and is just thick enough to make it so I'm not resting the phone on the lenses if I set it down. I wouldn't imagine running without it, but I also don't care if other people don't know what type of phone I use, so I feel no need to broadcast it.
I personally have never used a case. I’ve had 4s, 6, 8 and now 12 mini. But I’m also the only one in my family or friend group who doesn’t use a case.

I feel I'm going crazy with all of these people saying it's not purple. Lavender, Lilac, whatever they said are all shades of purple not some separate color from purple like they're all indicating.

Only Apple people would argue shades of purple.

Definitely much brighter than iPhone 11 purple which I have. That is pale in comparison. Would have liked if it had been launched along with other colours in October 2020. Should have all the colour choices during pre-order.

Purple is my favorite color, but it would have to be a dark purple for me to have any interest. Plus I use a MagBack case anyway so I’d never know the color.

That is one of the best purple shades I've seen. I really like it.

I'm an old-school guy and not a color nerd, so I'm not interested in memorizing specific color names like cerulean, chartreuse, taupe, indigo, lilac, magenta, etc. (reminds me of the Crayola sets with 150 different crayon colors)

I stick to basic combinations like bluish-purple or reddish-orange.

To me, this thing is purple. And beautiful.

That is purple. Purple is a category of colors achieved by blending red, blue, white and black in various ways. There is no pure purple on the color spectrum.

Violet is a specific frequency on the spectrum, as is Indigo, and red, blue, green, yellow, orange.
