UPDATE: After the 14.2.1 update there are still some touch screen issues. Scrolling thru websites with side of thumb etc. still results in no response. Hopefully further calibrations are being done. But, might as well give apple feedback once again so that they are aware of the issue.

UPDATE: Issue is fixed in update 14.2.1

EDIT: So you don't have to read thru all the pages, there is an issue with the lock screen not working properly with both a screen protector and a case. All user seem to have this issue, but Apple has yet to acknowledge the problem.
Please leave them feedback if you're having this issue. Below is the link and a template I made if you don't want to write it yourself:

https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

"There is a problem with the lock screen not detecting presses on the camera, flashlight or anything
unless you press very gently.
Issue only occurs when using BOTH a screen protector and a case.
If you touch something conductive like the frame or the camera lens frame it works
."

Right after I got my iPhone 12 Mini I put on a PanzerGlass screen protector and started using it.
My problem is touch on the lock screen, if i try to use the torch or pause/play music it only respons sometimes.
After i unlock the iPhone touch works great, but on the lockscreen I have to get lucky with the touch to get the response.
Anyone else having this issue?

I was having a similar issue with the passcode while I was wearing a mask. Seems to be better now, not sure if that was a transient thing.

I have an issue with swipe up to unlock .. I thought it was the screen protector so I put another one on. Seems a bit better but still having issues.

Am having exactly the same issue too. Came on here to see if others were, and semi-pleased I’m not alone. Hopefully a software update will help solve the issue.

Am also having an issue quick-replying to messages (force touch?) from the Lock Screen.

Love the phone now; the screen feels very small but the phone feels “fun”!

I am also having this issue with my iPhone 12 mini using an ESR screen protector and either the Apple silicone case or a speck clear case. Works fine when I’m not using a case. I'm going to order a non-glass screen protector and see if that fixes it. I had this problem with the 2018 iPad Pro as well, and it was eventually fixed in software.

Case on or off?
Case on.. the only reason I thought it’s the screen protector cause I screwed up on installation forgetting to peel the back first (spigen ezfit) so I had to free hand install it. Installed the second one and it seems to swipe from lock screen at least 90% of the time now.

I think it’s a software issue and not the screen protector. If I lock phone and swipe to Home Screen right away it’s fine.. if I lock and wait a few seconds, I have trouble swiping to home.

edit: never mind. Spoke to soon.. it’s random.

Take the case off and test to see. Mine works fine with the case off.

Ok, so this get's stranger. If I take the Spigen Liquid Air case off it works perfectly.

I think the issue is you have to swipe from the very edge of the phone. On the old phones it was easier because of the curved glass. I currently have the Apple leather case on and it seems to work better but I notice you have to be precise in swiping from the edge of the phone.

I think the work around for me is tap and hold the bottom until your Lock Screen lifts a bit before swiping up to home.

Don't yet have a 12. However my previous 11 seemed to intermittently have the same swipe problem with a glass screen protector. Decided to go naked with better results. I think I was naked for about 5-6 months without the screen getting scratched. I'm now 2-3 months into my SE edition, and this screen is holding up as well. However, I do have a case protector and I'm a firm believer in cases to protect against accidental drops (especially corners).

So did a little bit of testing. Put it in a larger 12 Pro case, same problem. Put it in an old 7 Plus case same problem.
Put it on the table, same problem. Thought i might have something to do with electric conductivity with the frame so tested it while holding it with a latex glove and it worked fine. Guess this mini really would like us to go caseless 😄.

Anyone want to try without a screen protector?
I was about to when I discovered it worked without the case. So I'm not going to take mine off 😄.
Hopefully this is a touch sensitivity issue that can be fixed with a patch and not an actual hardware issue.

I tested it. Removal of screen protector works. Wasted 2 to try again with same result. All of this is only when protector installed and phone in a case. Out of case with protector works fine. Go figure this nonsense out. Losing my mind.

I wonder why only the lock screen
The sensitivity settings are probably different there, hopefully they can be adjusted in an update. I'm waiting on my Dbrand skin, so now I have an extra excuse to use it :).

I'm having the same problem. Lockscreen doesnt detect the swipe up properly and doesn't detect the push for the live wallpapers as well. The weirdest thing is I'm using the official Apple Silicone 12 Mini case. I took off the case, with the screen protector no problems at all. The case is messing up things.

Screen protector is messing things up, not the case. Remove it and you’ll be fine again.
