When i have a live wallpaper the lockscreen is unresponsive.
When i switch to a normal wallpaper it works normally.

have found the same thing on my girlfriend’s 12 mini. spigen screen protector, apple leather case. sometimes the torch and camera work, sometimes they don’t, and swiping up to unlock is hit & miss. hopefully we’ll get a fix as the new screens are said to scratch pretty easily!

I'm having the same issues. The camera and flashlight work fine without a case, but not with one on. I am using a tech armor screen protector. I haven't tried without a screen protector yet. I have found that if the phone is turned on its side with the volume buttons down, then the camera and flashlight work normally. Odd...

I found a temporary solution I think.. when swiping up, try to place your thumb on the first cm of the home bar only. Seems to work more consistent.

Screen protector is messing things up, not the case. Remove it and you’ll be fine again.
It's not the screen protectors fault. If so all iPhones would have this issue and the iPhone wouldn't work fine without the case, besides Apple expect users to use both. I'm sure it's a calibrating issue with the screens sensitivity. When using both a screen protector and a case the touch is more "dull". Personally I would just leave things like they are, I'm sure there will come a fix soon. No chance in me removing the screen protector, I would rather have a scratch on the phone then on the screen.

Hey guys I got the exact same issue. After many experiments with 2 cases and 3 pieces of tempered glass I concluded that it’s a software bug as it only happens on the lock screen.

- It works perfectly with either tempered glass or case on but not both.

- When trying with both tempered glass and case on it won’t work. However, if your case is silicon try to poke another finger inside the case to touch the metal frame of the phone while swiping with the other one, it will work properly.

I think it’s a feature to prevent accidental touches on the lock screen, probably has something to do with electrical conductivity but we need to wait for a fix for sure. I can live with it for the mean time.

I can get it consistently working by swiping about 1 cm of the left side of the home bar pretty consistently as a temp fix.

You are correct, when i put it in my iPhone 7 Plus case and try with my finger touching the side it works, but as soon as I remove it, it doesn't. I tried the same with a latex glove and then it didn't work at all. So seems to be a conductivity issue.

It’s a phone/software issue. Lock Screen doesn’t like the “flat” part of my thumb on the camera, light, and music buttons but works fine with the top of my thumb near the top of my finger nail. Once unlocked the flat part of my thumb works fine.

Tested my xR and it doesn’t have this issue.

I have a ESR full screen protector and has a Poppy leather case on as well. Took off the leather case and everything works except the camera and flashlight on lock screen. I also tried using a Spigen Ultra Hybrid Case as well as a Mujjo case and had the same problem as with the Apple case. The phone screen is pretty much unresponsive with a case on.

Very lame issue. My wife’s phone is experiencing the same thing. Noticed it right away when I tried to type in her passcode. Unresponsive and random touch response. Swipe up too inconsistent. Ripped off the screen protector. Still not perfect. Disappointing.

We’re touching it wrong.

I’m having an issue with my Lock Screen, definitely with the swipe but also with the camera and flashlight. Hard pressing doesn’t activate them, they don’t do anything at all if I even touch them

Do you think this is hardware or software related? I just took my case off and it’s flawless now.
Wow I took mine off and it works correctly too. It’s gotta be software though if it works after unlocked with a case on.

Update: restarted my phone after putting the case back on and Lock Screen buttons working fine.

Since you guys are having issues I just put my Mini in official Apple leather case without screen protector. Flashlight and camera shortcuts are working fine on lock screen.

I have an issue with swipe up to unlock .. I thought it was the screen protector so I put another one on. Seems a bit better but still having issues.
I updated to iOS 14.2 and hard restarted the phone. I haven’t had any touch-related problems since.

(I use an ESR tempered glass screen protector).
