Hey, i am truly hesitating between iPhone 12 Mini White vs Black
Honestly i always pick silver/white (iPhone 4/4S/SE/X) but both looks great to me
iPhone 12 Mini Black reminds me the good days of iPhone 4 Black version
I ve seen some related YT videos (note its iPhone 12, but it should be same color tint)
The white version is more ''cream'' than pure white
The black version looks sleek imo
Hard choice
In my eyes, they looks equally pretty
What will be your choice then?

Thanks

i had white/silver X for 3 years, i want a change and the black looks sleek to me

Black. Looks sophisticated and luxurious!

I’m going with the white 12 mini.

I have a Midnight Green 11 Pro right now. The problem with a dark finish is, in a darker room I can’t tell which side is facing down when I go to pick it up. The white back will solve this, it worked with my silver X.

I have had a silver phone since the iPhone 6, currently have a silver 11pro. Def getting a black mini! I can’t wait to have a smaller phone!

In some pictures/videos I like the blue, in others I do not. Since I most likely won't be able to see the colors in person before I order, I'll probably just go with white. Plus I do plan to use the mini caseless at times so I feel that the white would show fingerprints the least.

I still hope to see the regular iPhone 12 colors in person before ordering opens up for the mini. If I don’t get to see them ahead of time I’m leaning towards going with white.

Honestly if it was same white as 12 Pro Silver, i would go without hesitation on 12 Mini White
But it looks more cream/beige than any other white iPhone
For the first time, i would say for the moment black sightly ahead of white version
Except black, i found every 12 color has something negative:
  • Red is more orange/pink tint
  • Mint Green is pretty but i d prefer the previous green from the iPhone 11
  • Blue is bleh, i simply dont like it (11 Pro Blue is much better tho)
  • White is more cream than ice :s
  • Black is unchanged, black is black lol

I’ve been getting the space grey iPhones as they were the only models with front black bezels, but since Apple got rid of the white bezeled fronts I now have a real appreciation for the the Silver/White and black bezels like the iPhone SE and now the iPad Air 4. So going to get the Silver 12 mini for sure. Black and the Royal Blue are nice as well though.

Yes, those of us holding out for the 12 mini will have the benefit of making an appointment to shop with a specialist and handle a 12 in the different colors (those of us with stores nearby). Then we can still order for launch day without doing so totally based on Apple press images, which is usually the case.

As for the shade of white, I hope it’s more neutral (not too warm/off-white). Apple’s press photos usually show the white 12 with a yellow/peach wallpaper which might make it seem warmer than it is in reality, maybe to contrast it against the cooler colors like blue and green.

Checked out the iphone 12 white and black at the Apple store today. Both stunning but im going with the white mini. The off-white/cream color is barely noticeable imo, looked like the white/cream you’d find on a pearl necklace. Loved the black but it attracts a lot of fingerprints and smudges. Scratches on the black will be more visible too.

I didn't think about the fingerprints!!! My blue shows a lot of oily prints.
White it is. .. again..

Thanks for the field report. I would not have minded a slight champagne tint but mostly-white is just fine too.

It's funny how my own 1st world problems exactly reflect yours!

I've always loved white Apple products since the G4 iMac, iBook and iPods. For me it's always been their signature colour.

And just like you I've been frustrated that the 11 and 12 have shifted the colour from white to this creamy colour. This year it even seems slightly pink. I assume they've done this to differentiate it from the Silver Pro model, which doesn't help me, because I want the mini.

Pathetically I've intentionally sabotaged myself by ordering a 128GB mini in black, saving a bit of money over the 256GB and decreasing the longevity of this mini so maybe - just maybe - they revert the colour back to ice white on the 2021 models. So when my 128GB phone is bursting I might have an excuse to upgrade.

I ordered the white one but still thinking i have made the wrong choice
Due to the covid pandemic, its difficult to go at shop and see how it looks like in real
I dont want to order both just for picking color!

I, too, ordered the black and chose between black and white. But for the first time in many years the black actually does look like black, even the aluminum sides. This is why I chose black. It does look more sleek with the screen turned on, like one piece, almost like the space black SS Apple Watch 5. I love that. I considered the white but I realized it would look strange with non black wallpapers because of the black bezel between. I would see that all the time, it would bother me.

Only thing first keeping me from buying the black, it's a fingerprint magnet at at the back! And the fear of scratching the sides and therefor having silver scratches on it. The white is the opposite of a fingerprint magnet. After all, I chose the sleek, clean look of the black.
