Might be because 5G is still too power hungry - and even more so with two carriers at the same time.
I am sorry but the iPhone 12 is a bull...t phone through and through. Same camera sensor, no touchID (how to even use this with a mask?!), no USB-C, no 120Hz, 5G no mmwave outside US, 5G not for Dual SIMs. So I get what? A cool new blue color in an iPhone 5/iPad like casing? For $1000?
It seems these “power users” are buying the phone for 5G and must have it 24/7
Ok.. whatever
The reddit post that this article is based on has been updated:
"Edit: Update coming later in 2020 will enable 5G when using a Dual SIM mode."
You know there’s 194 countries outside of America!?I’d love to see these “power users” show me on the map how they have 24/7 access to 5G coverage. Try Verizon in LA....
Sure... how any of them will support 5G on your US phone? This absolutely is a dealbreaker for me. Most people seem to forget there’s a world
Outside of the US. 5G coverage is good where I live in Sydney and I use one phone with a work and personal sim. Without 5G this takes away the main reason I ordered the phone

Yep, but of course it’s still a deal breaker for the “power users’ that need the “plentiful” 5G coverage on both SIM 24/7..
Erm what!? I don’t have and don’t plan to have a US phone.....Sure... how any of them will support 5G on your US phone?
Ok.. show me the uk map of 5G...Erm what!? I don’t have and don’t plan to have a US phone.....
I don’t think mr Geneo is capable of reading or understanding 🤓You do realise if your using 2 SIMs there is no 5G at all, on either SIM?
Software update coming...You do realise if you're using 2 SIMs there is no 5G at all, on either SIM?
Erm what again. Did you really think Sydney was in the UK? Cute.Ok.. show me the uk map of 5G...
Ok... show me show Sidney is blanketed in 5G... todayErm what again. Did you really think Sydney was in the UK? Cute.
There’s 193 other countries other than US and UK
Spare a thought for us Aussies that get screwed with tech products.I am sorry but the iPhone 12 is a bull...t phone through and through. I'm sure it's possible. On normal dual SIM Android phones, it's possible to disable any SIM from the settings.Question for anyone who has a HK/China model phone with dual SIMs. Can one be disabled (temporarily) without removing the SIM itself?
I currently have a SIM from back home which is used exclusively for receiving SMS messages from banks etc. and will eventually also be used when travelling (HA). It sits in an iPhone 6 and uses SMS forwarding to my iPhone X. I want my iPhone 12 Pro to replace both... but I don't want to miss out on 5G. I'd be fine if I could disable the second SIM and only enable it when I'm expecting messages.
I assume you mean Sydney. Here is one of the 3 networks for this little village.Ok... show me show Sidney is blanketed in 5G... today

Why would I post anything about dual sim on this forum? It works as advertised and I’ve used it happily on two different iterations of iPhone for 2+ years.Lol... until you step out of the wide open park.
Funny.. you have never posted ANYTHING about dual SIM on this forum, now it;s such a deal breaker.
Whatever... buying this phone for 5G is very premature,

Which kind of 5G is it though?
The "ultra fast, download an entire season of a TV show in 6 seconds" 5G?
Or the "meh, not much better than 4G..." 5G?
