Hi!
I received my iPhone 12 pro max on Friday and have bought a few cases for it.
So far I have the black and saddle brown leather cases, the deep navy silicone case and the clear case (all official Apple MagSafe cases).
As my phone is graphite, I think the black leather looks the best. I’m excited to see how the saddle brown will develop a patina over time. I remember the SB case for my iPhone X aged nicely, whereas the one for my iPhone 11 PM just looked “dirty”, and not so great (in my opinion). I wonder how this year’s model will look in a few weeks/months.
The silicone definitely feels the most comfortable in hand. Unfortunately it seems to show a lot of “fingerprints” and smudges. The ones I’ve owned before, has picked up a lot of pocket lint and dust, but so far this year’s model seems better in that regard. But, with smudges all over the back (and I don’t even use hand lotion), I feel it’s not perfect. The buttons also seems a little less “clicky” than the leather cases.
The clear case is quite different in so many ways. It actually feels good in my hands (and to me it’s not as slippery as some other members on this board has said). But the buttons are the hardest to touch of the three case types. It also shows smudges and I’m not sure how much I will be using it. But, it’s always nice to have the choice depending on the mood. The good thing about the clear case is of course its transparency - so you don’t really notice the edges of the case when you look at the screen.
So, what are your preferences when it comes to Apple cases?

I’m thinking about grabbing a silicone case because the bottom speakers are now covered. How’s the feel and grip?

Between the Apple cases, I prefer the leather to the others. I am currently using the Black Leather/Graphite combo which looks excellent.

For the silicone, could you post a pic of the fingerprints and smudges? Do they come off when cleaned with a damp rag?

Compare to third parties cases I felt the leather camera bump don’t get that much protection.

I had the black silicon which was terrible for smudges, fingerprints and lint. Swapped it for the white which is much better. Not sure how it will stand up long term but I also have the Baltic Blue leather as a rotation case.

This is after a few hours of use... as I said, I use no hand lotion or anything.. nor were my fingers particulary dirty..
So, my favorite so far is the black leather

Gosh I hate how the PM silicone and leather as far as I can tell have the raised edge.

Looks so much uglier than the 12 Pro ones, wonder why they did that - worried about light from the side reflecting into the physically bigger lens or something?

I have the Apple leather and Apple silicone case for my mini, along with a Spigen Ultra Hybrid clear. My favorite is the leather, followed by the silicone, which is very soft to hold.
Got the black leather and really like it. But I’m concerned about disinfecting it after being out, and worry that the leather won’t take well to that. Considering the silicone...since you have both, is the silicone worth it or nah?

If you want to disinfect your phone case each day, I highly suggest using a product called “Phone Soap.” It uses ultra violet rays to disinfect without damaging the case or the phone.

If you don’t want to go that route, then get the silicone.

I saw on a review that the clear case wasn’t as strong magnet wise than the leather or silicone, is this true?

Thanks, that’s helpful. I’ve been meaning to look into the uv option. Glad the silicone isn’t a “don’t buy” though.

In terms of what? Connecting to the MagSafe charger? I think it's naturally more slippery but it's equally strong
Just the general strength of the magnets, they’re as strong as the leather cases? I’ve seen a review showing it falls off easy, and on another review the guy has the phone attached to the case and was swinging it.

I was swinging it om the Clear Case and it didn’t fall off. My dad was impressed!

Seemed as strong but you need to consider - less friction will make it slide off the case regardless of the magnet strength versus the tactile leather or silicone

Th apple cases are just took bulky. I have a .3mm knockoff from Amazon that I like. Its just for scratch protection. Been using cases like this for years as its as close to naked as I like to get.
