Hi there I currently have a note 20 Ultra but just ordered a 12 Pro max as I fancy a change from android as been with them for over 10 years lol just a couple of questions

I have the exynos version of cpu is the a14 alot better the the exynos?

Also I watch lots of films ect and the iPhone has dolby vision on there displays are they as good as the hdr10+ that come on the note series (is the iphone display as good as the note) I'm not bothered about high refresh as although I notice a difference it's not much to me anyways

Are the speakers on the iphone as good? And is they a way to boost the Bluetooth volume as I tend to connect to speakers and I have a volume booster app on the note

I know this is very subjective but is are the cameras as good on the iphone spec wise and quality as they are on the note i will miss the zoom but I don't use it often lol

And the whole ios vs android (again subjective) but is ios a good eco system to be in or is it as restrictive as some make out as I might get the apple watch aswell

Thanks for any help

2 months ago i sold my N20U and got the 12 PM...so let me help answer a few questions.

the A14 is better than the Exynos N20U.Less heating and battery last longer.

the display on the 12 PM is actually very good. But it doesnt look good enough because its 6.7 vs 6.9 inch. And the N20U has curved sides.

the speakers...they are good or maybe even better if you ask me.loud and clear.but depends on the music format too.

the camera...if you seldom use optical zoom on the N20U then i guess the 12 PM is more than enough for you.

Noticing your question about restrictions and also that you like to watch movies on your phone, I want to point out that loading movies onto an iPhone is not so easy as it is with an Android phone unless you've bought or rented them from Apple. Streaming services such as Prime Video also usually have the option to download movies but usually time-limited and the downloaded items will not be available to other apps. If you have a bunch of downloaded movies - I mean theatrical releases with no commercials or other crap and I'm not going to ask from where - then the only way I've found is to use a player app, my choice is VLC, that has the facility to download from a network server. Then, because of Apple's walled garden, the movie will be on the phone but sandboxed with the app that loaded it so not visible to other apps or the wretched apology for a file manager. TBH if phone screen movies were a thing with me, I've only tried it for fun, then I would prefer an Android phone.

Thanks for the reply to be honest it's mainly youtube and Netflix and prime I use something called youtube vanced on android where I don't get no ads ect which I believe there is no such app for ios unfortunately hate ads but I begrudge spending £12 a month on another subscription lol 😀

Most of my family have iphones so that's another reason I'm thinking of switching but out of everything the only thing worrying me the most is the freedom of been able to change things on ios compared to android (simple thing like Bluetooth volume booster is not possible on ios as far as I know)

How's gaming on ios? Does it tend to be better on ios and apps in general

Thanks

If you set up AltStore, you can sideload Cercube, which is an ad free version of YouTube :)

Having most of your family on iPhone means Messages and FaceTime could be a real boon to you, both work extremely well. Gaming on iOS, well I don't go there, but I'm sure it's fair to say that neither iOS not MacOS are the top choices for gamers.
It seems everybody wants to sell us subscriptions, it's all quite horrible. Already I'm paying subscriptions for Prime, Eurosport, BT Sport, my VPN, Office 365, a couple of insect and plant identification apps and no doubt others I can't think of at the moment. It all adds up and it adds up fast, so No More Sodding Subscriptions is a rule I'm trying to follow before my entire income is committed before I get it.

Video recording is miles ahead on iPhone, even un bias android users would agree, wait till you see Dolby vision video recording on the 12 pro max 🤤😎

Yep apps are better on iPhone.

Just watched it sounds promising lol my max turns up tomorrow so can't wait to try it 😀

Would you say the display is a downgrade over the Note 20 Ultra? I'm not bothered about refresh rate as I don't find it all the hype personally

Thanks

When I had the note 10+ for a few days, I couldn’t stand the curved edges. 🤦‍♂️🤮 it ruins watching videos and content wraps around the screen. 🤦‍♂️

Had a play in store with a s20u with 120hz turned on, agree with you, it’s all hype, you won’t have a problem with the 12 pro max 60hz screen, smooth as butter for me when scrolling and in everyday usage.

Wait till you see the awesome, best real world battery life on the 12 pro max. 😳😍🔋👑

Well it’s arrived and playing around with it I’m impressed battery life hasn’t even moved yet with all the setting up etc when my note would be on 50% by now 😂

I switched from the Note 10+ 4 weeks ago. It's a bit of a learning curve. Apple has a really awkward and convulted way of doing things, but you'll get used to it.

The speakers are definitely better. Camera good.

Apple still has work to do with their widgets but I'm sure they'll become better. Like both platforms some good some bad both sides.

I've still got my Note 10+ so use that for things.

I've found that if you watch Apple TV produced stuff, the quality is excellent. Watching Long Way Up just now and the quality is superb. Anything else from the likes of Netflix etc, there isn't much of a difference.

😎

Welcome to the walled garden, how are you finding iOS so far, which colour you end up going with?
It seems alright it’s just a learning curve as far as changing things lol android gives your so much freedom but iOS up to now seems to have a certain quality to it 👌🏻You can do less but do it better if that makes sense and I’m loving Face ID so much better then any fingerprint I’ve ever used and I ended up getting the iPhone 12 Pro Max in silver 128gb from Apple it’s self 😎

Oh and something that is very petty I can get a glass screen protector to fit in less then a minute where anything I’ve had android the past 5 years has been a nightmare 😂

That’s simply not true. You can transfer any media file (as long as it’s a supported format) to the iPhone through iTunes. I should know, I have 72GB of video files and 11.5GB of music stored on my phone (from ‘questionable’ sources).

ABSOLUTELY!!!! As they say it just works 😎 Face ID is the bees knees of the biometric world 👌 once you use Face ID you’ll find it hard to use anything else, Silver is one sexy color, it was my second choice behind pacific blue.
