No thanks, I'd rather a stable OS, great battery life, no battery drain while your phone sits there doing nothing, no camera lag, not having to take 10 photos so I can get a decent photo, no bloat, no lag, no overheating, no gimmicks.

No upside in leaving the most efficient OS, and most powerful chip on the market.

As they say "If ain't a iPhone, it ain't a iPhone" 😎

"It just works" 😎

When android can do all the above, I might consider giving them a look. 😊

That’s simply not true. You can transfer any media file (as long as it’s a supported format) to the iPhone through iTunes. I should know, I have 72GB of video files and 11.5GB of music stored on my phone (from ‘questionable’ sources).
This is true. It’s not as easy as on android but it’s certainly can be done. I have a ton of live music performances that I have on my iPhone that I transferred via iTunes. Back in the day when I was a poor student I used to rip DVDs to my computer and transfer them to my iPad via iTunes. Now I just prefer to buy what I want from iTunes as it saves the time of messing about ripping DVDs and transferring them to my devices.

OP welcome. I hope you enjoy your iPhone. There will be things you miss from your old galaxy note but here are lots of benefits of having an iPhone. The good thing is that if you change your mind and want to go back and you are outside of your return period, the iPhone has a good resale value so you should be able to recoup enough money o buy another note phone. However you may find that you want to stay in the walled garden.

Seen this video before but I’m going to watch it again. I Remember one of the points he made was about customisation. Which is very true android is better for customisation. The iPhone improved a lot but I want a theme store so I can change the look and feel of my iPhone. Changing icons via shortcuts is a bit too complicated for me. I’m still learning how to use shortcuts properly.

You go on about Samsung/Android but never seem to own one? You must love the walled garden which is a lame term IMO. It’s not prison you can get out anytime you know.

There are ways of protecting your pictures on the iPhone with either Face ID or Touch ID
How can I hide certain photos and password protect them, not everything? On Samsung you can do that. Choose the photos which you don't want to be visible.

Shame that Huawei is kind of out of the game nowadays? They had such great phones and awesome themes. OPPO also has great phones. There are so many Android manufacturers out there that it's actually difficult to compare iPhone vs some other phone.

I'll always defer to superior knowledge. But iTunes and supported formats are pretty big restrictions, not be compared with freely copying files to an Android phone. I am not making points in any Android v iPhone debate here, I've made my choice.

Now a days it’s much easier to transfer files to an iPhone. You don’t even have to use iTunes, you can just freely transfer any file through AirDrop, so I don’t really see much advantage of Android in that regard.

I don’t think it can de done directly using the stock app but I’m sure there are third party apps that allow it. However What I do is I create a note and add the pictures I want to keep protected with Face ID/Touch ID and add the pictures to that note. Then lock the note.

Yeah, that's too many steps and that's one of the reasons why Samsung is better, for example and why I would go with Samsung.

You're wasting your time, he just started swearing at me and abusing me for no reason in the alternative to iPhone thread, all because I didn't agree with the false information he was spreading about iPhone batteries. 🤦‍♂️ and because I was using emojis. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

You’re right. Despite having multiple Apple devices since 2014 and even before then I’m ashamed to say I didn’t really start using airdrop properly until last year. I think if you want to connect your phone to a computer and transfer like that then android is better. However I prefer to transfer things wirelessly. I really hate connecting anything to my computer using a wire. So I think wirelessly Apple is fine.

No I don’t own one. I’m happy to stay lol A walled garden can be a good thing. It can Keep riff raft out lol

Well it’s arrived and playing around with it I’m impressed battery life hasn’t even moved yet with all the setting up etc when my note would be on 50% by now 😂
Yeah my issue with the note ultra was battery life was poor.

my friend at work has the note 20 ultra and even when he doesn’t touch the phone for his 12 hour shift it can be on 50% by 6pm.

I just switched back to the iPhone 12 Pro Max from a Note 10+ after years of Android use. There is a noticeable improvement in battery life with the iPhone compared to the Note 10, and the cameras on the iPhone blow the Note out of the water. I do miss the stylus to some extent, although I only used it in certain situations.

Ironically, the biggest drawback I have now is similar to the drawback I had when I initially switched to Android. Back then, it was finding a Twitter application for Android with the same features as Tweet Bot. Now, it's finding a podcast app with the same features as Podcast Addict for Android.

Noticing your question about restrictions and also that you like to watch movies on your phone, I want to point out that loading movies onto an iPhone is not so easy as it is with an Android phone unless you've bought or rented them from Apple. Streaming services such as Prime Video also usually have the option to download movies but usually time-limited and the downloaded items will not be available to other apps. If you have a bunch of downloaded movies - I mean theatrical releases with no commercials or other crap and I'm not going to ask from where - then the only way I've found is to use a player app, my choice is VLC, that has the facility to download from a network server. Then, because of Apple's walled garden, the movie will be on the phone but sandboxed with the app that loaded it so not visible to other apps or the wretched apology for a file manager. TBH if phone screen movies were a thing with me, I've only tried it for fun, then I would prefer an Android phone.

Movies Anywhere addresses a lot of the issues with downloading movies for offline storage. It can also consolidate movies purchased from multiple sources, including Amazon, iTunes, Vudu, Google/YouTube Premium, Fandango, and Microsoft Movies/TV. Not all movies are available due to rights issues with certain studios (i.e. some studios are jerks about digital). The downloads in Movies anywhere are not time-limited either. Another cool feature of Movies Anywhere is that it makes a lot of your content available across all participating platforms. This means that content I purchased via iTunes now shows up in either YouTube Premium or Amazon Prime Video and vice-versa. For movies you either ripped to disc or obtained through alternative means, VLC is my go-to media player for all platforms.

Man, it must be a full moon coming....

I had a model 12 max. I still use my Samsung S10+ note. I much prefer it over the 12 which I donated to a shelter.

I had the iPhone 12 Pro fir a few months and just got the 12 pro Friday - so nice! A bit heavy yes! But it’s fine. My son has the Note 12 and of course it’s very light weight and often when he’s using it looking at the screen the dimensions DO remind me of the 12 pro max and the quality it’s quiet nice. Not a 12 pro max:)

There is no Note 12. Samsung went from the S and Note 10 series to the S and Note 20 series and skipped everything in between.
