I will be ordering the 12 Pro max to replace my 11 Pro max. The color I am going to choose will be the least popular color. I use Apple's silicone case and so the color behind the case is irrelevant. Ordering the least popular color would mean, I don't need to order at 2.00 AM and still get my phone the same time as everyone.

Apple hasn’t done 2AM releases lately. Usually it’s 8AM EST I think.

Last year was the first year they moved to 5AM Pacific. I still can't fins any articles after a year on why they changed it. If anything they state it was actually better the old way because the initial wave was lower to reduce load, and if anything did go wrong, they had hours to fix it before general pop started waking up. They did sort of hint at maybe the reason for 5AM was that a lot more countries can preorder right away now.

Debating between going from 11 Pro to 12 Pro vs 12 Pro Max. Had the XS Max and liked the larger screen, but I also like being able to do some tasks one-handed. With the squared edges, I’m somewhat worried that the larger phone will be uncomfortable to hold for extended periods of time. Still leaning towards the Max.

Both wife and I are updating to 12 Pro Max. Were with Tmobile, Jump on Demand and we update our phones every year. was considering 12 mini but my eyes are not getting any younger and I enjoy the larger screen.

I am torn on what to do. Originally I wasn't going to upgrade at all, but recently I've been having god-awful service on my 11PM and I'm hoping it's attributed to my Intel modem rather than my T-Mobile network. So I'm probably going to exercise my iUP option.

I have always owned the Plus / Max phones, but they may have finally gone too large for me with the Max here. My 11PM is sort of on the edge for comfort and wield-ability... I thought about going mini, but I'm afraid of the battery life there. My mom's XR is a nice size at 6.1", so unless there are some compelling distinct features on the 12PM I may go for the 6.1" Pro. We'll see!!! Can't wait for tomorrow's event to throw me into chronic indecision for the 72 hours that follow.

Do any 11PM have Qualcomm, and if so, is there a way to see on the device which it is? My XS Max was junky for cellular data, but I haven't had issues on my 11PM.

I believe that for the 11 / 11 Pro series all of the modems are Intel. I lose service during calls constantly, though, and it's incredibly annoying. Which carrier do you have?

Verizon. I had Verizon for XS Max too, and the cellular data would die a lot, and I had to toggle airplane and sometimes even reboot

My fiance has been having awful issues with her Verizon 2nd-gen SE needing to be Airplane Mode toggled to get through to her cellular data. Wonder if her modem is the problem.

12 Pro Max to replace my 11 Pro Max
Good choice. It’s alleged to have even more battery life although the difference is slight. We shall see. You’ll be getting a phone that will age better than the 11 pro max. The 12 max will have Qualcomm modem/antennae and future 5G. You’ll also should be getting next level camera system. It’s what I’m getting too

It could be all intel modem related. Qualcomm to the rescue. Yet another reason to get the 12’s

I’m thinking you would have to.
I don't think you need a new SIM card. The same SIM card you have now should work if you're either on the carrier version or the unlocked version. I recently switched to the "5G" unlimited plan on Verizon- I should just be able to pop this in the new phone and it will work.
Alternatively, if you get a Verizon or ATT, or whatever phone to avoid the upgrade fee, dont turn the phone on with the new SIM card, just insert your old one and then power it on. I did that with my Dad's SE and still haven't seen an upgrade fee.

I have to remember that when I preorder the unlocked version for Verizon. I do miss that T-Mobile only charged an upgrade fee if you upgraded via phone or in person.

Any news on the Qualcomm x60 modem?

Slight chance we might be getting the x60 instead of the x55 modem, quicker and more power efficient than the x55.
No leaks mentioning this that I know of. Apple will be mum as usual. Guess we gotta wait for the tear down

I don’t personally care about 5G. But I’d love a larger screen in the same footprint and a better camera zoom for sure. Batter Face ID (I wish Touch ID) and a new design are nice bonuses.
