With you on that

I've used it all day now and just picked up my iPhone 11 Pro and boy it feels half the tickness

Well, the 11 is thinner at the edges which is what your hands feel, so that makes sense. Rounded edges does a remarkable job tricking the brain into thinking a device is thinner than it is.

Similarly, the 12 pro feels like a deck of cards made from industrial steel.

I'm a huge fan of the design, honestly think the whole lineup of 12 & 12 Pros look gorgeous.

I think for a lot of us, the 4/5 type of flat design was just very iconic and timeless too, so its cool to see it come back.

However, although these phones are a bit thinner, going to these much bigger sizes (compared to the 4/5) the flat sides does feel a bit odd. I used an 11 Pro Max for a year, and today I've been using a 12 and am having trouble getting used to the feel in the hand. Something awkward about the flat sides / boxy shape. I know we had 6 years with the curved edges (from the 6 all the way through to the 11), but it always felt comfortable, and seemed like it was something they needed to do at the time as the phones got larger).

I've been using an X a lot recently, and comparing it to the 12, the X just cuts 2mm of height and 0.1mm of width, and its heavier. But the 12 feels significantly larger in the hand. Its kind of an odd feeling. I can't imagine what the 12 Pro Max will feel like with this boxier design.

I'm thinking of waiting for the 12 mini instead.

I've missed the solid feel of the 4 series. I needed a case on the 6 and X. They were too thin otherwise.

Still getting use to mine. I had the iPhone X and the 11 pro, and thought those were almost perfect size, but they were just a bit to skinny for me. I like the the 12 pro is wider. That really is the biggest thing for me. I do agree though that it does feel a bit chunky right now. I will give it some time before I make a complete decision, but I do think I like it better.

Coming from the iPhone X I find the sides and screen to be better but the frosted back to be slippy. The ESR screen protector fits like a dream and you can barely see it. There's only about 1mm gap... if that, to the start of the stainless steel.

For the back, I've ordered two sets of skins from Extreme skins... some Matt and some gloss. I know the gloss ones feel grippy as I used them with the X but thought I'd see how the matt ones felt like in an attempt to see the same styling.

Once the back is sorted out, I'd say it's definitely an improvement over the X for grip when caseless.

I was thinking ice cream sandwich, but steel deck of cards is probably more apt. Really did not like the look, or the feel - first time I received a new iPhone and did not have any sort of a wow moment. Coming from an XS Max, there was a lot of optical and mass illusion happening - it looked thicker and felt just as heavy. Also the screen size difference - and size of icons, type, etc - was very noticeable (to me). Tried zoom mode and the display ended up looking clunky and cramped, without any gain in screen real estate. All that is to say I’ve already returned it... undecided if I want to try the 12p Max or stick with my XS M for another year.

Comming from iphone 8, the phone feels huge in my hand and in my pocket. And im quite large 190cm / 6’3, with 11 hand size

Guess i'm not the only one.

Coming from the X, the 12 Pro feels uncomfortable in my hands. It's bigger, heavier and the (beautiful) edges are not comfortable either.

I'm going to return it and might buy the Mini next year.
(Or maybe i'll try it this year, don't know yet ;) )

I don’t feel this way at all. Of course it based on personal preference though. I’ve had every iPhone since iPhone 1 and this is by far the most beautiful and perfect iPhone ever created.

its .1mm wider lol

I felt the same, it’s chunky etc the first day, coming from 11 Pro. Yet it’s been two days now and I’m used to it now, and honestly love the better grip, the noticeable bigger screen. However, I fear people going for the Max might be in for a shock. Cannot imagine how big that is going to feel. The 12 Pro is the perfect size for me, just took some getting used to. Guess that’s also because we are so used to the rounded design we’ve had for years.

12 white reminds me more of lumia 930/830 than 4/4s 🧐 (2014 year and had wireless charching and oled screen 😊)

Just opened mine next to my 11 Pro. Personally I like the flat edges better, but the one thing I immediately noticed is the extra height. Not sure how I feel about that yet, personally I always hated making the "stretch" with one hand to reach control center, and now it is a bit worse. Width wise it is wider, but it feels the same to me.

Actually the iPhone 12 pro is smaller all around compared to the iPhone 11. Height wise the 11 is 150.9mm and the 12 pro is 146.7mm. This caught me off guard as I was comparing my wife's 11 to my 12 pro. I am coming from the 11PM and am literally liking every aspect except I am having a hard time adjusting to the screen size. I am going to miss the larger screen but at this point the pros outweigh the cons. Things I like are smaller form, easier to handle one handed and its more pocketable and doesn't feel like I am carrying a heavy brick in my pocket or hands everywhere I go. iPhone 12PM is out of the question as it's even taller.

It's all about perspective and what you're coming from. Coming from my XR, the 12 Pro is slimmer and lighter, even with a case. I'm loving the 12 Pro so far.

For me it's awkward. Had both a 4S and a 5S and loved those, but they were smaller, easy to get your whole hand around. Without a case my 12 feels strange and less grippy, and more fragile in a way when stabilizing it on the fingers. I suspect the Max will be next level unwieldy for normal sized hands. But it's a good thing I don't use my phones naked anyway. with the silicone case on, my 12 feels much better. you get the flat, square form factor but with the edges blunted and just a little bit more substantial feeling and comfortable. If there's a leather case I suspect that'll be the keeper.

It’s still a very big phone, so If you’re looking for something small this isn’t it. After using this for a day now I can’t see myself going back to the max. The 12 pro is the perfect size but my hands still get tired from using it.

I got the 12 Pro and it definitely feels thicker than my previous X. Apple should have done slightly curved glass at the edges with a thinner flat band, the thick flat band makes the whole phone look a lot thicker.

Give it a day or two and you’ll adjust. It’s actually thinner despite feeling thicker. Are you using a case or using the phone without one?

Leather cases are due to be released on November 6th.

If you want one before then, the mujjo ones are excellent quality and fit perfectly.

Also if your finding the device a little too large, maybe return it and wait for the 12 Mini to be released, as that’s a little shorter and a little narrower so sounds like that might be a better device for you.

I am currently using Samsung note 10 plus and contemplating between 12P and 12PM. I kinda feel that my note 10 plus is kinda long and not really easy to use with one hand. 12PM size would almost be the same. My heart is telling me to try out 12P instead.

I have to admit at first I didn’t like the feel of my 12 pro compared to my 11 pro. After 2 days of use it more familiar to hold but the rounded edges definitely make the 11 pro feel smaller and IMO more comfortable to hold. But larger keys on 12 are appreciated and it‘s growing on me.
