iPhone 12 Pro iPhone 12 Pro unusually warm when QI charging?

It is starting to overheat...when not on a charger.
Yeah I’ve had that issue due to the fact that it was indexing after setting up my iPhone but I gave it a couple of days to do its thing and started to go back to normal. I thought I was going nuts but obviously wasn’t lol. Otherwise the overheating issues is still there while charging.

I would even sometimes wake up to my old XS Max being super hot in the morning yet not having charged at all. It also was bad on the battery health so I have decided to no longer use Qi Charging on my new iPhone 12 Pro Max. Wired it is for me. My XS Max % is lower than on my even older 7 Plus ...

Hello. Has anyone else noticed their 12 Pro seems unusually warm when QI charging? I understand it's expected that it will generate some heat but the new phone is warming up more than I'd normally expect. I'm mindful of unnecessarily degrading the battery so would appreciate the experience and thoughts of others. I hope they haven't compromised QI performance in the pursuit of MagSafe (which I'm not interested in).

Thanks.
Hello. Same issue here.

My iPhone 12 Pro was overheating around 40 Celsius even with the 15 W iPad Pro 2018 charger, but that was fixed in a recent update. I have 14.4 Beta.

But the Qi is still heating up the iPhone up to 40 or 41 Celsius (measured with an IR thermometer) close to the volume buttons. I reported that in the Feedback app but didn't get any reply

Hope this might help some folks out there. Certainly won't help the people with MagSafe chargers. In my case it seems to be an issue with the placement of the charging coil. I use a stand charger which worked fine with our iPhone 8s, SE 2020s. Got a 12 mini and had the same issue with charger and phone getting really hot and barely charging. I happened to notice that when I placed the phone in the charger a certain way it wouldn't get recognized and when I placed it in a certain way, it would recognize it before I was done setting it in the cradle. Ended up cutting a block of styrofoam about 1/4 inch tall and placing in the bottom of the cradle. Phone charges just fine without getting hot now.
