Yep. When you have a yearly release of a product most plan vacations around this not during. There are evil things about China, this isn't one of them.
This is the one thing I do agree with. You know when blackout time is. But on the same token, so does the business, so don't even let people request time. Although this year was different, and the blackout time got extended. I think workers who made solid plans well before COVID ramped up and have tickets should still be allowed to go.

I agree so much with this statement. I am against human exploitation of course, but I also know many people would rather go for the extra compensation to support their families, you cannot compare it directly to US mentality, many of these guys are getting paid more than the average factory worker over there. I have been to China, it is magnificent, but many people live in pretty bad conditions and I know for a fact they would love having this job.
Yea within reason. When we had lots of OT, they would set max daily and weekly limits and you had to have one day off a week. Because they knew productivity, quality, health etc... would suffer

Unfortunately, it's a fact in the business world on a global basis.
Still doesn't mean it's right. Didn't always used to be like this. My dad got THIRTEEN WEEKS after enough years at his job. Even when I worked in the 80s and early 90s, you got decent PTO with enough seniority. Then it all went to **** when outsourcing started

There used to be “blue laws” in effect in many locals. It’s not right that stores are open on Sunday. My point being we could fill an ocean with things in this world that aren’t right.

I dunno - they get free health care, Americans don’t.
In a prison, people get free food and shelter. Must be great in a prison.

Also, "free" doesn't mean good - in reality, it's typically the opposite. For example, compare cancer survival rates in the USA and the UK.

Moreover, it's not "free", because the government takes money from the people (taxes). In countries with "free" health care, taxes are typically very high high.

Didn't wanna get into an off-topic discussion, but tbh just wanted to counter this misinformation about universal healthcare because it seems to be rampant online.

Cancer survival rates are one metric by which to gauge the quality of a healthcare system, but life expectancy and infant mortality are others. You should compare universal healthcare countries across more metrics to the US. The info might surprise you. But since you mention it: https://www.nuffieldtrust.org.uk/resource/cancer-survival-rates

You can see that in some cancers, the US has higher rates by a few percent, 85% -> 90%. But in others, the US has lower survival rates than Aus/Canada/UK. The rates vary widely because cancer is not just one illness. Again the info might surprise you!

Lastly, I think we all know that universal healthcare isn't free. But it's free at the point-of-care. Doing the math, when you remove copays, deductibles, and premiums, the vast majority of people will come out ahead with a few percent increase in taxes (which of course is scaled with income). Even more so if you have a chronic illness like diabetes or high blood pressure.

Sorry if OT, but just wanted to clear up this point.

Productivity never sleeps. If there is demand, everything should run 365 days/yr, 24 hrs/day.

Production provides jobs, purpose, and makes money.

Everyone upset about that just doesn’t understand business.
