The mini still is not small as my gf iPhone 5S. She also has an iPhone 6S that she calls her big phone.

It'll definitely be interesting what sales are like. There are a lot of people with more time and money on their hands, but the differences between phones is much less than it was a few years ago too. I'll admit I just upgraded from a XS Max to an 11 Pro Max, but thats more because of a deal with ATT where I get the phone for $8 a month.

"The iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max start at $999 and $1,099, respectively, which are the same prices that the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max were when they launched last year. However, the 256GB and 512GB storage options for both iPhone 12 Pro models are $50 cheaper than their predecessors were at those capacities."

Actually the iPhone 12 Pro is cheaper since the base storage has increased to 128GB from 64GB (which was on the 11 Pro) for the same $999 price. So many people, like myself, have no need to spend the extra money for increased storage.
no, thats called getting it on with the time, iphone was about the only model that cost 1k+ and shipped with only 64gb of storage. you can try justifying it whatever excuse you want but saying its cheaper because they give you more base storage is definitely not one of them.

The same price but without $40 of accessories. So really $40 more.

These "accessories" that came in the box with my iPhone X are still in the box and will go to the next phone's owner once I receive my 12. They added no value to me. And I'm sure if you spend $1000 on a phone and you truly have no cable/charger, you won't mind spending $40 for these items (or cheaper non apple ones).

The iPhone 12 being €100 more than its direct predecessor's price point at introduction doesn't strike me as being worthy of being described as "more affordable".

Unlocked iPhone 12 is $130 more in the US than the unlocked iPhone 11 was. And yeah, I was thinking the same. Not seeing how this is a "more affordable pricing strategy."

80 million units by end of 2020. LOL. No one cares about 120hz.

Last year so many experts as well from low end to high end regular people with strong opinion declared that Apple is doomed because Android phone manufactures offering 5G and Apple not. Now, the same people saying full fledged 5G network is not here yet. So, after a year, who is right ? Apple is right with the timing of releasing awesome 5G phones and nailed well with line up. People are excited with $699 Mini and $799 iPhone 12.

You can’t beat the regular iPhone 12 for what you pay. I’m having a hard time deciding between the regular 12 and a 12 pro max. They really blew it out of the park with the regular iPhone this time.

This doesn’t surprise me, Apple are a marketing beast. Even tho I’m disappointed by the iPhone 12 and shall keep using my 11 Pro Max for another year, the Apple ecosystem and people on older iPhones will mean a lot of people are more than happy with it.

Is it a nice device? Sure. Is it what we expected Apple to finally address? Still no. And these numbers make sure they won't anytime soon either.

We? Are you speaking for the entire market?

For me, the iPhone 12 Pro exceeds expectations. And thus am purchasing one. I suspect many millions of others will soon be purchasing one as well.

Can I ask you personally if you used said accessories? If they were in the box you would have used them and they wouldn’t have stayed in the box like they do every time you get a new phone? Just curious. Every pair of headphones every lightning cable c or a still work on these devices.

I wonder why the started competing with lower pricing phones. Maybe they know once someone buys one, they are going to upgrade for a bigger better one later or make money off the services at least.

Seems like wishful thinking considering the global economy is depressed, teenagers that are likely to upgrade have no need to since they're remote learning so no need to flash they have the latest, phone is too similar to previous year's modem and a bunch of competing products like new consoles, CPUs, GPUs, etc. are competing for limited discretionary income.

"more affordable pricing strategy"...yeah sure
Exactly. The cost for the actual phones has risen or stayed the same, and we now have to provide our own chargers (since the old ones aren't compatible). I wouldn't say that's more affordable.

Never hear about population growth...
Probably because most of that growth is happening in Africa and poorer countries where they haven't the money nor the need for a fancy mobile device.

It'll be interesting to see how this turns out. A +28% raise in the price of the base iPhone 12 is really massive and would assume it would knock sales down for their main model.

More bad news for the environment.
What's bad news?

Maybe, I don't know how one puts a wet finger in the air to come with an estimate like that.

My thoughts exactly. $130 more is not "more affordable." The "cheaper" 12 Mini is $30 more than last year's base new phone (the 11) if you buy it unlocked or on T-Mobile and merely the same price if you buy it on Verizon or AT&T. Plus no charger in the box, so that will cost you more money if you need one (granted I realize that a lot of people don't). What is more affordable about any of this?

Thank you, Apple spokespiece. I don't speak for the entire market and neither do you.

Who us “we”? A few MR posters, or the 10s of millions buying public?

Ah, and here is the other Apple spokespiece. Thank you for your contribution. Tim approves.
