Thank you, Apple spokespiece. I don't speak for the entire market and neither do you.
You might want to reflect on what I wrote. Starting with "For me,..."
It's not that tough.

The article is discussing the insane number of potential units that Apple may sell for the iphone 12. When you say "we", you do not speak for me, apparently not for @citysnaps either. If nothing in the iphone piques your interest, perfect, then don't buy it.Thank you, Apple spokespiece. I don't speak for the entire market and neither do you.

Ah, and here is the other Apple spokespiece. Thank you for your contribution. Tim approves.
As a direct Apple shareholder, however, boost that stock all day every day!
Is it a nice device? Sure. Is it what we expected Apple to finally address? Still no. And these numbers make sure they won't anytime soon either.

But I am interested in the iphone 12 pro max. I can't speak for anyone else.
Throwing around some thinly veiled insults doesn't help the veracity of your post.
So that clarifies that "we" refers to disgruntled technophiles, however many there are of them.Clearly when I say "we" I refer primarily to disgruntled technophiles (by now I hope regular users too) who have grown weary of waiting for ProMotion, no Notch, USB-C, bigger and not smaller batteries etc, BUT need a new iPhone anyway and are too invested in Apple's ecosystem and UX to jump ship.
"Ah, and here is the other Apple spokespiece. Thank you for your contribution. Tim approves". The preceding seems to be "poking the bear" so to speak (I am not the bear).Please. There's no insult in that. The entire macrumors cast and crew know by now that I'm going to be addressing shortcomings in new products, and you are going to defend them at every turn.
Forever is a long time.I think we're destined to do this forever....

You definitely should address shortcomings as you subjectively see them.
What's bad news?
Oh I see what you are saying. Manufacturing Samsung Note 20 is actually worse for the environment. Manufacturing plastic water bottles is bad for the environment. Manufacturing cars are bad for the environment.I have no idea. I'm going by Apple's own statements. They removed the earpods and charger from this years' phones due to their impact on the environment. Surely if the charger and earpods have a negative effect on the environment then the entire phone will have even more impact. And this story says there will be 80 million of the phones sold by the end of the year.

Because we know that the release of harmful chemicals are bad for the environment, you are suggesting Apple is saying we stop acknowledging that and not do anything about it. I think that is totally not what Apple is saying.
You are making an assumption about things.No. Apple said that manufacturing millions of things is bad for the environment. But their concern for that environmental impact ends when it impacts their bottom line. Hence they stopped including accessories, which actually saves them money, but will still sell 80 million smartphones.
You mean the parents are likely to not be upgrading....Seems like wishful thinking considering the global economy is depressed, teenagers that are likely to upgrade have no need to since they're remote learning so no need to flash they have the latest, phone is too similar to previous year's modem and a bunch of competing products like new consoles, CPUs, GPUs, etc. are competing for limited discretionary income.
The story says they may sell that many, they have no clue how many will be sold...I have no idea. I'm going by Apple's own statements. It’s true. We won’t know for a while who wins the “how many iPhones did apple sell” bet.Shipments != Sales !
"iPhone 12" Unit Sales will probably come in @ 30M units OR so during Apple's 1Q21; total iPhone Unit Sales will probably come in @ 55M units, however, just like the last two years.
Yep, seems obvious to me as well. The reduced-Price iPhone 11 will probably sell much better then either of the two "Pro" iPhone 12 models !
Sure, BIG market success as opposed to small market success?ONLY the two lower-priced iPhone 12 models have any real chance of being a BIG market success.
So less expensive sells more than “more expensive?”For 4Q20, my money is on the $699 USD iPhone 12 mini taking Pole Position, followed by the reduced-Price $599 USD iPhone 11 right behind it !
And, this just follows the trend that Apple has seen post-iPhone X.
We were on a roll until this. Nope, cook and con hit the nail on the head. If the phone is out of ones reach, don’t buy it or get a less expensive android. It's NOT Rocket Science, Cook & Co moved the iPhone product line too far UP-Market !
I’ll keep it in the back of my mind. And, let us NOT forget, we'll be doing this ALL over again this time next year !
No, it’s not working against apple at all. I think it’s working in their favor.5G is NOT ready for Prime Time, so that is working against Apple.
It needs another year.
Mini is a great option as is the reduced iPhone 11 price. The "mini" is the perfect ONE YEAR lease option for those looking to jump in now.
The reduced-Priced iPhone 11 is a fantastic Fallback option !
iPhone 12 mini vs iPhone 11 vs Sit Out for another year ???
