Hi all! Need to get some opinions from all of you that own a 13/13 Mini.
What's the material around Lightning port? Is it aluminum, as the frame, or is it a plastic frame around the port?
I know that in Pro models it is stainless steel, just like the rest of the frame.
In the meantime, I came across a thread that horrified me: uniformity issues with iPhone 13 displays, specially in low light.
How is your 13/13 mini display uniformity wise?

The Frame on the regular 13 and 13 Mini is aluminum including the area around the charging port.

I believe the OP is referring to the thread I have linked below. Nothing new, same as with the 12 series. OLED panel inconsistency. All the 13 models will have variances on the quality of the OLED panel.

I would recommend against 13 Mini. I had it for a week. The only good thing about is the size.
The battery life is atrocious. 6hr screen time would drain the battery to 0%.
The camera is actually worse than my old 8. See the photos. The 13m is just unable to focus at close distances.

I returned it and picked up an 11. I get 10hr-11hr screen time per charge. The camera is good. I can turned off the HDR. Very happy with 11

Interesting observation. Does the iPhone 11 focus closer than the 13 mini? I compared a 11 against a 12 mini and they focused about as close. Maybe the 11 focused a bit closer but not by much.

iPhone 8 and 11 cameras yield almost identical results (1X). The both focus much closer than 13 Mini

A photographer could provide a better explanation but the main lens of iPhone 11 & 8 are f/1.8 and iPhone 13 is f/1.6. So iPhone 13 lens has wider aperture/faster lens, which is better in low light and snapping moving objects, but has shallower depth of field, thus looks blurrier at close distances. It’s not a defect, just a trade off. Try using ultra wide lens instead, what’s to lose?

It has to do with the fact that the iPhone 13 mini (as well as the 13 and 13 Pro) camera sensors are bigger, which increases the minimum focus distance. The same thing happened last year with the 12 Pro Max.

I think the bigger sensor is probably the reason, rather than the difference in aperture. On these small sensors f1.8 vs 1.6 would not make much difference in depth of field.

How did I guess that the OP woud BE a noobie. There's nothing wrong with the mini battery....its better than last years. No it's not gonna get pro/pro max screen time, but that's where the beauty of usb c charging comes in play. Tops off your battery in an hour. Both my parents have the 12 mini and haven't complained once... I have the regular 13 and love it but I was very close to getting the mini

You couldn't be wronger.
I've been using iPhone since the 3G.
And who mentioned anything about the battery?
Maybe if you paid more attention to what's posted instead of starting off judging people, your posts would be way more useful for the entire community.

Mini (both 12 and 13) have their lot of happy users, including me, who prefer a light and portable mobile with a shorter battery life as a tradeoff. It is all about our priorities. If we use our iPhones most of the time then mini may not be such a good choice. If our use is mixed between different devices, it can be totally fine, as it is in my case. Also, mini tops up rather fast. ?

An interesting point about mini 13 camera, though. Here is a similar example from my 12 mini:

6 hours of SOT seems really solid for such a small device. Plenty of Android flagships with larger batteries struggle to get 6 SOT during mixed use.

My wife's 13 mini comes in tomorrow.
