Maybe they meant it is the greatest feature in the sense that it was arguably the biggest upgrade (maybe except for the gen 2 heart rate sensors) and personally, the greatest reason I would choose a model over one that doesn't have always-on.No offense intended, but greatest feature???
. However, the new iPhones will be slightly thicker and heavier to accommodate the more advanced displays and larger batteries.

Hopefully we won't get that fragility feature android users have enjoyed. 🤣You mean inspired by Android... or maybe even a foldable in the next decade. 🤣🤣🤣
Samsung inspired always on display, not apple watch inspiredNice!!! - Cue all the comments about screen burn in… 😄🙄
Nope... Samsung was inspired by Nokia.Samsung inspired always on display, not apple watch inspired
Ah, I feel you.Everyone is welcome obviously. I’m not even a regular relatively.
But I never understood the anti brand people that hang out at “that brands” forums. Just strange to me.
I would never go to a android forum to talk about cool things Apple does. Is that strange? Am I strange?
I suppose there would be a toggle for the Always-On-Display to be turned off like the Apple Watch does? Why do people want this? I get it with a watch. Not sure I get it with a phone that can turn itself on when retrieving it from wherever it spends most of its time. I’d rather every single mAh go towards active use.
I agree with you and I've even commented on this a few time in my tenure here. I'm guessing some of the android lovers are paid to be here.Everyone is welcome obviously. I’m not even a regular relatively.

As far as I’m aware, all Android devices I can think of just turn on some pixels for date/hour + some data, without any adjustment, so they have to be selective, since pixels are as efficient as in normal use. With an ”Apple Watch” approach (LTPO and adjustable refresh rate also to 1hz), they will be able to show everything without compromises, even the background. You mean inspired by Android. I love this feature and am glad that iPhone users can finally enjoy it. Hopefully you guys will get other features like 120hz or maybe even a foldable in the next decade. 🤣🤣🤣
That doesn't sound like their strategy at all. They don't hold back features to keep fanboys upgrading. They do it to make transitioning to the new device feel more intuitive. Adding three dozen features all at once would be overwhelming for most people.Yeah, this sounds like Apple.
They love to hold features back, and drop them slowly into the market, year by year, just to keep fanboys performing their yearly upgrade cycle. Features that could have been introduced many years ago, there is absolutely no technical limitation to not offer the „always on display feature“ to iPhone X upward…
Surely not a crap marketing team, Craig!

It could serve the same purpose as it does in a watch. Show the time and the date, and quicker acccess to a few apps, without having to unlock the phone. If battery compromise is not much, it can be a reasonable conveniene for the ones who don't have a watch. Why do people want this? I get it with a watch. Not sure I get it with a phone that can turn itself on when retrieving it from wherever it spends most of its time. I’d rather every single mAh go towards active use.
I’m inclined to agree with them. I can’t name a single other feature after Series 4 that stands out and would make a difference to >10% of people. No offense intended, but greatest feature???
In many cases, Apple is doing it differently than others so it is an invention and probably patented by them too. Many Android devices simply display a portion of the screen on all the time or sometimes. Apple Watch is always on and uses adaptive refresh mode to show the entire screen at 1Hz so you get all the full screen graphics with minimum power draw.Apple Watch inspired? Lol, making a feature that existed on other devices for a decade sound like Apple's invention, interesting.
Never? So when checking the time your watch you prefer few times just to see the time?Never used that on my Apple Watch. Huge autonomy.
Why? It’s worthless on the watch so what advantage would it have on my phone?
Honestly who cares what their screen is displaying when they aren’t looking at it?
is it worthless? What’s worthless of seeing the time no matter what position your hand is in.
Never? Pretty sure it isNever used that on my Apple Watch. Huge autonomy.
