I had my iphone 13 mini for 3.5 years or so. Battery maximum capacity shows 82%. Is that considered good? I never changed the battery. Do people normally change the battery every 2 years or so? How long did it take for your iPhone 13 mini to go from 100% battery capacity to below 80%?

I know it is said you shouldn't change your battery until below 80% but do most people do it? I definitely notice my battery wears out faster than when I got the phone new years ago.
I’d suggest to base your decision on the limitations in daily use that you're now experiencing. I’m on 85% with my 13 Mini but it doesn’t bother me as I use tethered CarPlay to top up from and to work.

If you do decide to have it replaced then be aware that there (may be) more power required based on how far you’ve gone with the iOS.

Caveat: I have actually seen a clear energy improvement since iOS 18.4

I don’t know what most people do, but I’m at 81% and I’ll change it when I notice a difference in how I use it. Being a light user, it may be awhile before I bother. I’m also almost always by a charger so topping it off isn’t a big deal which only happens if I have a day of too much video viewing. So, you say you notice the battery wearing out faster than new, but does it bother you? Do you need to recharge during a normal days usage? I would use actual experience to judge when to replace the battery over focusing on the percentage in the battery settings.

I think that 80% rule comes from when Apple will change batteries under warranty (on at least some devices, not sure if it's universal).

Agree with the others, if the reduced battery life is impacting your use of the device, then get the battery replaced. If not, just keep using it. I have two 13 minis, one is at 85% & the other is at 90%. I'll replace the batteries at 80% or whenever these start to die in my under normal use.
