Got an iPhone mini today (love it!!) but strangely, I prefer it with a case on rather than "naked"? This has been the only iPhone I've had that feels better in a case than without. What do you guys think? Case or no case?

Of course a case. You are dealing with an expensive piece fo equipment so why is there even a question about protecting it?

Clear silicon case on mine. I keep my phone for years and inevitably have drops and bangs. The case gets looking rough but the phone stays almost perfect.

Why does it feel strange that your senses somehow find the phone better with the case? Trust your senses. Case works great, without case works great, too. I, too, like @Apple_Robert, use my phone with and without. Both feel great with this form factor.

It's more a matter of protecting your investment. If you're this kind of person that keeps his her phone for a long time and then decide to sell it say on classifieds. Serious buyers will pass you by. I know, I do. I bought a used SE im July and I saw phones from being almost mint to being half destroyed with bumps, marks, indents, scratches and wear and tear. Once I went for a SE that I thought was in very good condition. Not the same when I held I in my hands. Full of small scratches all over. The lady told me she put it in her purse after using it. She finally said one day she found three nail files in her purse. A protective glass and a case and that phone was in mint condition. Passed.

Investment is, in my opinon, a no-sense word for something that one year after is old and have a price drop simply because a new model is launched. By the way I used my 8 plus and my XS caseless and I passed both to someone in my family (my mother and my girlfriend) without any problems and only minor scratches. Both are still in use and you could have sold it without problems for a good price. They are tools and I prefer to use and enjoy them, not to preserve them for the next buyer.

Only if a case feels more secure, less likely to slip, better grip. Or you know you are likely to drop it.

I prefer without, less bulk, and a case lip can make tapping corner harder especially.

Case for better grip and protection from falls but it looks like crap after the material degrades and adds significant bulk to your device. For me, it's naked.

Slim blue leather case on my blue 13 Mini. Tried without and more than once the phone slipped in my hand picking it up or holding it. Looking at the back of the case now after 6 weeks on the phone shows me it was the right choice.
Can you post a pic? I went with the apple black on blue phone and other than one nick in the leather it looks as good as when I bought it a few months ago.

I’ve tried probably 10+ cases at this point and returned every one of them. Just can’t stand cases. Sometimes if my hands are sweating it’s hard to hold but otherwise I find the glossy back actually grips better than frosted glass or soft touch silicone.
I do have AC+…just in case 😁

Didn’t plan on using a case after ditching the one I had on the original iPhone SE the last few years, and loving the real design experience. But, bought an APPLE leather just for those times a bit of extra protection may be needed, and it looks good. With the case or not, this iPhone feels good in the hand. A few marks are not going to be a problem, it’s not a future trade-in ‘investment‘ and I have AppleCare+. I did put a 9+ hard screen protector on. Screen condition is more important since that is what you are looking at daily.

I used 12 mini naked but sometimes it slips out of my pocket while driving when I had pants with bigger pockets. I had Apple Care+ on it and after switching to 13 mini, I don’t think I will buy another AC+. Wasn’t used for me before I sold 12 mini. I plan to try leather case for 13 mini because I like how you can match colors of iPhone with a case. When I would switch to regular 13 I would definitely use case and AC+ because of it’s size which is slippery for me. Mini is so great to use in one hand. Enjoy your new mini and welcome to the club.

I’m with you there, a damaged screen is so much worse than a damaged body.

No offence to anyone who prefers the naked phone experience but I cannot understand it. Accidents happen and you will drop your phones causing chips and dents to the paintwork along with a higher possibility of damaging the screen. I have had my Mini 12 since launch and it is in “as new” condition because I use an Otterbox Defender case. I know that I am probably TOO protective of my phone but, in my opinion, you should be at least using a stylish case or even the clear Apple case which will maintain the naked phone appearance.

I have used a Magpul Bump case on my last 3 Iphones. It's almost indestructible, smooth enough that it doesn't drag coming out of a pocket, and has a raised pattern on it for better grip. I haven't used a screen protector on the last 3 Iphones, I'm pretty careful about not putting it in a pocked with other items, my screen has minor scratches that are only visible if you look at it in sunlight without the screen light on.
