I’ve found once I added a case it became a lint magnet. My iPhone 13 Pro picked up a lot of dust as well and that had an Apple Silicone Case.

The cases are fantastic otherwise but in retrospect they seem to shuttle dust and pocket lint all over the phones. I was trying to figure out why my iPhone 13 Pro collected so much lint when my previous iPhones didn’t, and that seems to be the reason.

It depends on how careful you are and how many little scratches or bumps you are willing to put up with. I have a very thin transparent case on my mini 12, which literally saved my phone 3-4 times over the last 14 months. I am not clumsy, yet since mini ia so light it can easily slide out of my pocket and when it does, it becomes a bit of a lottery.

I am a big fan of going case less. Never had a case on my 5 or 6 and loved it! Now with the iPhone 13 mini, I ordered a Bare Naked case in frost white. Looks good and greatly improves the slipperiness of the phone. This case does not add any bulk to the phone.

I'd like to go without a case but most of the time I end up running off with the Bare case on it.

I will add to this by saying for me going naked is not just about the look, it’s how it feels in the hand. No matter what case used, the iPhone design is optimized as it was intended. It’s a personal choice option, otherwise wouldn’t a case be included? When I took the cracked and chipped case and screen protector off my iPhone SE it was like a revelation, and I used it for a few more years without any real noticeable wear. I’ll also add, that when I took the case off my son’s iPhone 7 to get it ready for trade-in it had noticeable wear from the case. Case or no case, my new iPhone 13 mini goes both ways depending on the environment I’m in, it’s really just a personal decision. I’m practical-careful with where I put and use my iPhone, but on the other hand, my wife is downright abusive and I can’t imagine her not using a case ;-!)

I was caseless the first 3 hrs until I dropped it. Now has a nice dent on the bottom hidden by the case. Imho if you have AppleCare+ go for no case but I personally wouldn’t without coverage for the extra warranty.

On my 12 Mini I use a Pitaka aramid fibre case when I want the phone to be almost almost naked, but still have some protection and look really good.

All other times I use a Mous Limitless 3.0 case for max protection. The Mous cases are amazing honestly, very durable and excellent build quality but despite the extra bulk of the cases materials, it is built in such a way that you can still use the 12 mini comfortably one handed due it its bowed design. Mous clearly invested into a lot of R and D when creating their cases.

I used to go caseless back in the day, but I stopped after the 5c (which was the perfect phone for hand feel and grip, none better before or since). SE 1 a little too uncomfortable, 6 and later camera bump. I think the 13 mini is fine but for the camera bump; I have a Bullstrap leather case to mitigate that.

I have never liked using cases. But I'm a huge mini fan. I had the 12 and now the 13. I put one of Apple's cases on my 13 only because I think I'll keep this phone as long as I can, assuming Apple really isn't going to release more minis. I am surprised that the Apple case doesn't bother me more than I thought it would. I get more stray dog hairs on my phone because of it, but so be it.

If I thought Apple was going to keep releasing new minis, I wouldn't put a case on this one.

You will always had a chance of buying another new one. I’m sure that all capacity wouldn’t sell until a year or two from now on. And it will get a better price in that time.

No offence to anyone who prefers the naked phone experience but I cannot understand it. Accidents happen and you will drop your phones causing chips and dents to the paintwork along with a higher possibility of damaging the screen. I have had my Mini 12 since launch and it is in “as new” condition because I use an Otterbox Defender case. I know that I am probably TOO protective of my phone but, in my opinion, you should be at least using a stylish case or even the clear Apple case which will maintain the naked phone appearance.
Because I have AppleCare. If I didn’t have AppleCare I probably would suck it and use a case. But after dishing out the money for insurance it seems silly to buy a case that in some cases costs more than the deductible for service/replacement. I also use a popsocket to improve grip and keep the camera from touching when set down

But they won’t replace it for superficial cosmetic damage. I guess it’s just me but I would annoyed to have a flagship phone with dents and paint chips over it. I have replaced my Otterbox Defender with a much more stylish (but far less armoured) Cyprus Green Apple Silicone case w/ MagSafe which offers good protection, provides additional grip and looks pretty darn awesome.

I used to care a lot about superficial cosmetic damage but it’s really not that bad. The only “cosmetic” issue that I care about is the camera lens. A scratch there will impact pictures. But otherwise it’s a tool and as long as it works and it’s in one piece I’m happy with it.

That’s fair. I personally hate imperfections. I can handle minor paint chips here and there but when it’s clear and obvious and then there’s dents and little cracks on the glass back, etc… I would just feel like wanting to sell the thing. I have work colleagues who refuse to use cases and after a year it looks like their phones have went through a war while mine is still in pristine condition. I suppose if you don’t care, cosmetic damage doesn’t matter.

Is not difficult to obtain a substitution paying AC+ fee at the end of the second year. Just a casual dangerous drop ?

A clear skin is the perfect compromise: protection without covering up the industrial design. (It might not protect from impact but it will be grippier and protect from scratches.)

I used Invisibleshield till they went glass, now I use PhantomSkinz. Though the glass ones may absorb impact better.

Slim blue leather case on my blue 13 Mini. Tried without and more than once the phone slipped in my hand picking it up or holding it. Looking at the back of the case now after 6 weeks on the phone shows me it was the right choice.
The aluminum makes the iPhone shell a bit more slippery than the stainless steel edge Pro models.
I bought an Apple leather case for my 12 mini and have put it on just once. Mine is either totally naked or attached to the MagSafe wallet.

And I don't even have AppleCare. ?
Man you’re living brave or have a LOT of funds.
I used 12 mini naked but sometimes it slips out of my pocket while driving when I had pants with bigger pockets. I had Apple Care+ on it and after switching to 13 mini, I don’t think I will buy another AC+. Wasn’t used for me before I sold 12 mini. I plan to try leather case for 13 mini because I like how you can match colors of iPhone with a case. When I would switch to regular 13 I would definitely use case and AC+ because of it’s size which is slippery for me. Mini is so great to use in one hand. Enjoy your new mini and welcome to the club.
I’m curious if AC+ enhanced the trade in offer for your 13 mini, I think mine did but I was too late to take advantage and thus the trade in price for my 12 mini dropped by almost $250 and I’m still under 1st year, no trade ins no damage.

Here's my question: If Apple decided to "re-invent the phone", and created a plastic and silicone smartphone that was less prone to breaking, bulkier, and easier to grip, would you jump at the chance to buy it?

....And would you put a case on it anyway?

The 5c was my all time favorite phone!
Overpriced for what it was… $100 cheaper than a 5S with the chip of the 5 along with a cheap-ass plastic toy chassis. It’s a budget phone in all but price, lol. That’s why it’s widely regarded as Apple’s worst ever phone.

Glad you liked it though. My sister bought one back in the day and I laughed at her ?.

Oh that phone gave me such joy to use. It was most definitely not a toy chassis. It was rock solid thanks to the steel frame. Used it with no case and never once worried about dropping it. Every other phone since has had regrets attached. Not the 5c.
