I don’t think so. According to Everything Apple Pro this is the most durable iPhones that ever been made. You can check out the drop test. It took him many times for the screen to shattered. It’s worth checking out.

I'm always impressed with how durable iPhones are after watching his drop test videos.

Well I think iPhone is not design for military/idiot purpose just get a a good quality case/screen protector.

Apple are in the business for making money out of insurance and repair process.

Anyone notice they never tout the glass being stronger than before, etc, etc?

Probably to sell the AC+ hehe...

That said, I've not broken a single iPhone glass, and I'm on my 9th iPhone. All of them in a case of course, with a decent lip around the edge.
They can be telling the truth and these tests could still be accurate (i.e. the glass itself is stronger but the assembly is thinner, so the tradeoffs balance each other out.)

The results of these tests have been all over the place, partially down to probably how difficult it is to perform rigorous scientific tests with proper controls so you know you are testing the same thing each time (I noticed one guy who claimed the 13s are weaker was basically just jamming a tool into the screen without factoring in the increased height of the camera back.)

As time goes on I've gradually thinned down my own cases—I went from an Otterbox with my 4S to just a thin clear case with my XS + a tempered glass screen protector. Never dropped my phone from any significant height but the feeling that'll happen as soon as I decide to go caseless keeps me invested. A $10–20 case is a much better idea to me than AppleCare.

Several years ago I dropped my iPhone 5 (without a case) and it cracked the front display. The phone was owned by my company though so thankfully it didn’t cost me anything to replace it. That was the last time I went without a case.

From what I've been able to tell the "Ceramic Shield" that Apple introduced last year with the iPhones 12 is actually quite protective. Assuming this is true, is there any technical reason why Apple didn't or couldn't include it not only on the front but also the rear of the phones? If not, might it be possible that we'll see rear Ceramic Shielding introduced in a future iPhone?

In related news, dropping a glass or plate in your kitchen from four feet will often result in something breaking, while dropping your travel coffee mug that’s built for durability will usually not break.

Heaven forbid Apple design something that’s toted around 24/7 indoors/outdoors/everywhere to have a little more shock-absorbing durability out of the box, and a little less marketing-driven mom’s favorite crystal vase delicacy…

It’s not as if people carry around their iphone more than they do the thoughts in their head or anything like that…

Apple really did do the bare minimum with this year's release, didn't they?

Yep. 15% faster CPU, 60% faster GPU, 92% better light sensitivity on the ultra-wide camera, 2.2x light sensitivity on the wide camera, night mode on all cameras, brighter screen display, but no deflector shield or photon torpedoes. What was Apple thinking?

I'm kinda disappointed.. actually really.. I dropped my iPhone 13 Pro 256GB that I bought full price (never purchased such an expensive phone), the very first day, with a brand new Apple Silicone Case on it. I have dropped a few times my iPhones since 3GS, but I haver never broke any glass or metal since. And this one, supposed to be stronger cracked and even the metal got scratched (I don't know how, may e the silicone moved during the impact).. I'm not sure what are my best options now... 🤔
you can still get apple care for it.

Not that surprising, if anything, iPhones have become less durable. I remember having my 4 drop full run an then slide about 5 meters on a gravel path with only superficial (but loooong) scratches on the glass. My 5s got bigger scratches from less, my 8 didn't survive 1 minor drop, and my SEs homebutton even cracked by just putting it on a table without handling it like a raw egg.

Sure, the glass has gotten stronger, but the screens have also gotten bigger. If they really wanted to make a durable phone it would probably look different. I guess, some day durability and sustainability will become a selling point or a regulation for avoiding e-waste.

Did I read that right? The Front drop with the case broke more than without? Make me think the whole thing is just noise.

The problem with the AllState test is that it's a 6 foot drop, straight down onto concrete, where 100% of the energy is absorbed by the front or back. What percentage of real-world drops look like that?

Most drops are closer to waist level, and not necessarily straight down like that.

With the Silicone Case [...] In a face-down drop, the iPhone 13 cracked on its second drop.

In the Leather Case, the iPhone 13 Pro survived three drops with no damage when dropped back-down, but it cracked on its first drop when dropped face-down.
Ouch. That is, both cases are practically useless. I want Otterbox Defender-level protection even if they're very bulky and heavy. Not a single dent / crack in the last 9 years after several drops of numerour iPhone models.

And that's another reason I don't get so caught up in the "design" debate. Will the iPhone 14 look like the iPhone 4? I'm slapping that expensive baby in an armored case anyway...so why should I care?
I usually put on a Spigen Ultra Hybrid case (my former iPhone X and now iPhone 12 are protected by them) and leave it at that. There are cases with better protection but they make the phone a bit unwieldy to hold.

i’m surprised people still drop their $1100 phone. i’ll admit i did put a apple leather case and a zagg on my 13 pro max (for piece of mind)

You have 60 days to purchase AppleCare after your device purchase.

Go to Settings > General > About, and choose “AppleCare+ Coverage Available”

The rest is up to you. I believe they run a remote diagnostic. What credit card did you use?

Sorry to hear about the drop, but I think we can find a relatively painless remedy!

I think Apple does run diagnostics remotely when AppleCare is requested when not applied at the point of sale. It would make sense to cover themselves in this probably common situation

why would anyone buy apples cases if the phones crack in them? my $10 spigen case has been dropped tons of times for years and no damage to the phone
