Or just get the battery replaced for the...what is it $99 for a genuine Apple battery. If you are happy with the 8 and it does what you want..I like by 8 but I hate the petty battery life that only lasts about 3 hours of continuous normal use. I have the original battery that’s around 78%. I’m thinking about getting the 13 Pro Max just for the battery and a peace of mind.
That's all that any of the new devices will be. They have all come so far that there is not much that can be done that will be "groundbreaking" ...to a point. A different shape? There is flip or candy bar, etc. Cameras are crazy good for what they are. I can't think of anything that I will call groundbreaking, aside from maybe making the Apple watch standalone and have ALL of the features and power of the iPone 13....and maybe a remote screen that you can watch movies, etc.Apple might release new iPhones in September!! News at 5. 😅
I’m more interested in what iOS 15 will be, and if Apple will drop support for any older iPhones. The hardware is almost predictable, just a refinement of the iPhone 12 with faster chip, better camera, better display, Ho hum yawn. 😂
Yes, I paid $299 for my 6 64GB on launch day. I believe the insanity started with the 8 when it jumped to $799 or something like that.iPhones were never $300-400 (except SE). $1000 is still too expensive but most people see it as $45/month instead.
That $299 was contract price. Full price, it's higher than that, like $749.Yes, I paid $299 for my 6 64GB on launch day. I believe the insanity started with the 8 when it jumped to $799 or something like that.
I don't that any phones where ever 3-4 hundred dollars. My first one a Mitsubishi DiamondTel analog was more that that and my first Palm Treo 600 Was almost $750iPhones were never $300-400 at full retail price.
You may have paid that much with your carrier subsidizing the cost - though they got that money back via the embedded costs in your bill whether you bought a new phone or not.
... and yes as phones matured, the impetus for annual or biannual upgrades has lessened.

Are chip shortages going to push up iPhone prices?
It’s going to be fun watching you melt your credit card again this year! 😜This is the best news of the year 👏
Thank you for the compliment. I appreciate it.It’s going to be fun watching you melt your credit card again this year! 😜
I mean so do I, but your posts are more fun and even I chickened out of Titanium or Steel and got the Nike Apple Watch in Aluminum. If they add blood sugar monitoring this year I’ll upgrade the watch to another Nike one, but otherwise I want to get at least 2 years out of the watches.
I’d like to hang onto my 12 Pro Max another year, but if the color of 2021 is a deep red, I don’t think I can resist.
I've always just done it with alarms. "Hey Siri, set an alarm for 5 minutes. Set an alarm for 15 minutes. Set an alarm for 25 minutes." Works just fine when I'm cooking or doing anything else that needs multiple timers.Apple can ship me a new phone every single year, yet the stock clock app still can't set more than one timer.![]()
Yeah, that is indeed a work around - that I then have to go back and delete all of the unused alarms afterwards. It's just basic functionality that should already exist. "Siri - set a timer for XXXXX" "There's already a timer running, should I update it?" . . . .I've always just done it with alarms. "Hey Siri, set an alarm for 5 minutes. Set an alarm for 15 minutes. That’s how my wife feels about her iPhone X. It already has Face ID, OLED, wireless charger, dual speakers, IPX rating and the much beloved but now forgotten 3D Touch. There has never been that much enticement to upgrade. Plus you always feel good about yourself with an extra $1000.I remember back in the early days I got every version of iPhone, from the first iPhone to the iPhone 4S. Then it started getting really expensive to stay current each year. I think the phones were about $300-400 back then, and there was 1 model each year. Now it's 4 models and they top out at 5-6 times that price.
Will be hopefully upgrading my 8 to a 13 this year. Funny thing is, it still works great, although that's with a new battery.
There are countless apps available for free which will do what you want if that doesn't work for you. Not sure why we must expect every base app to do everything.Yeah, that is indeed a work around - that I then have to go back and delete all of the unused alarms afterwards.
