There are countless apps available for free which will do what you want if that doesn't work for you. Not sure why we must expect every base app to do everything.

I'm upset my oven only has 2 timers. How dare they not come to my house and upgrade me to one with more timers. This is 2021, we should have ovens covered in timers by now.
You really don't need to apologize for Apple's oversight. If your oven can have two timers, then this amazing "assistant" that is Siri should be able to figure it out too.

But hey, people had to go out and buy an iPhone 3g just to get MMS, when every other phone on the planet was sending them over slower 2.75g (EDGE), so why not buy a new one for basic functionality, right?

Here is hoping for Touch ID. Everything sounds pretty good. Thinking about going bigger screen.
And I prefer the ironed out second iteration of any product generation.

I remember back in the early days I got every version of iPhone, from the first iPhone to the iPhone 4S. Then it started getting really expensive to stay current each year. I think the phones were about $300-400 back then, and there was 1 model each year. Now it's 4 models and they top out at 5-6 times that price.

Will be hopefully upgrading my 8 to a 13 this year. Funny thing is, it still works great, although that's with a new battery.
I have similar situation. Stil I am waiting for new iphone because still my iphone 8 plus is really great smartphone. I hope apple will give me good reason to change :)

Love the hand-down season lmao 😂
Promotion will be fun, even faster MagSafe too

I don’t get what’s wrong placing the sensor at the back? It’s simple, does not require R&D, and does not have Jony Ive to shut it down.

Couple things come to mind...

  • Requires a hole in the back of any sort of case, which is unsightly IMHO.
  • Need to shift grip from usual one-handed grip with fingers and thumb all wrapped past the sides
  • Can't use it to unlock the phone when sitting on the counter/desk or on a charging pad, can't unlock when in many/most car holders.
I'd rather the sensor either be embedded in a side button (still some potential case challenges) or under the display near the bottom.

You may feel differently and that's fine.

You paid a lot more for the iPhone than $300 - $400. You were probably not aware of it at the time.

I’m still on my 6s since 2015, I’ve had 4 battery replacements, 2 Apple paid and 2 I had to pay.

My 6s has been and still is a beast. Works like a new phone even on 12.4.1

I would like a larger screen without bezels but not at the expense of losing Touch ID.

I'll finally be upgrading my iPhone X. The first iPhone I've had for longer than a year.... It was a good decision (along with a bunch of others) though. Since getting the X, I've gotten completely out of alll my debt (there was quite a lot!) and will have saved up for my wedding by end of June.

Then 3 more months of saving and going on a BIG Apple splurge. Everything is getting upgraded. Phone, watch, MacBook. Far more excited than I should be. :D

Similar situation. I am still using an iPhone 8+, which is still going strong, but with iOS 14.5 allowing your iphone to be unlocked with an Apple Watch, I will probably be more comfortable upgrading to a phone with Face ID even if mask wearing persists till the end of the year.

Or just get the battery replaced for the...what is it $99 for a genuine Apple battery. If you are happy with the 8 and it does what you want..
No, even when it was new, the battery wasn't good enough. It wasn't able to last the full day, but rather, a third of a day max. Like from morning to noon, or noon to dinner, or dinner to bedtime. You need to charge it every time you eat, if you are using it all the time.

Wow, that is crazy, what is running on that phone? I've had bad days, buy never like that....at least unless there was some issue that was resolved by a reboot...or two. That sounds like there is something wrong, because at that draw rate, even if you triple the thickness of the phone and battery and you would still only get a day?
