Last year there was a ton of controversy about yellowing of the displays and the colors being too warm. Apple must have listened to feedback because I just got my iPhone 13 Pro and I can confirm it doesn't have this problem. I tried the iPhone 12/12 Pro last year and it was always way warmer than my iPhone X. In comparison to the X, the iPhone 13 Pro is actually cooler this time around, but not too much so. This is with true tone enabled on every device. Apple must have done some calibrations or adjusted true tone because it's a big difference.

I have an X and my pro max arrived today, what was the difference, major upgrade?

Achieving a Color calibration on an LTPO 120hz OLED screen is much different than their previous 60hz OLED displays. I bet you they’re still not considered perfect to Apple.

The 14 will be warmer for sure.

Warmer is better and more color accurate—even if some argue that enjoying a cooler screen is merely a “preference” as that is not correct.

My 13 pro looks great (returned a 12 pro.) It seems slightly bluer than my XS with True Tone on.

I’m accustomed to the screen temps varying a bit each time I get a new phone, so that doesn’t bug me, but that returned 12 pro looked really bad, with its yellow tint and poor contrast.

Mine was a little too warm or “yellow” but I fixed it by turning off True Tone. Looks amazing now

Since I finance phones through my carrier I am stuck with each for at least 2 years. With that said, my upgrade was last year from the 7 Plus to the 12 Pro Max. My 12 Pro Max has a warm display, I did disable True tone, because that's not a feature geared toward people who expect Professionally calibrated display that need the display to remain the same color temp regardless of the lighting around it. With this said, looking back, on the 12 series the issue seemed to vary between devices from no problems to some showing more significant problems. I would have to compare a 13 Pro Max to my 12 Pro Max side by side to really say, but I like the warmer tint of the OLED vs my other LCDs. It looks more natural to look at, and my phone with the exception of true tone being overly warm didn't have calibration issues with the display itself. As far as when I upgrade again, I'll probably do the 14, or even 15, because the further gap between devices is more worth it to me when it comes paying for a new phone.

My 13 Pro Max is just as yellow as my 12 Pro Max was last year which I'm gutted about but it is what it is can't be bothered returning it and playing the screen lottery again this year.

As long as video looks correct, then it really doesn't matter what the system UI looks like. That's what I judge by because of having worked with professional video when doing my broadcast training, and then after that keeping up with certain standards through the home theater community. With this said, I haven't had a chance to look at a 13 pro max in person, so I'm judging by my 12 Pro Max compared to my TVs which are calibrated for cinema.

Yestarday I tested 15-20 new units of iphone13 in the Barcelona apple store. All of them has the screen as yellow as my iphone 12……… for all of the iphone 12 yellowish screen users: 13 is the same..don’t waste your time, it’s not a lotery, it’s OLED display..
I hope that apple fixes the problem on iphone14 because this piss yellow screen is extremly annoying..:(

No yellowing etc here. But by god does it now heat up and then drop the brightness down when it overheats for no apparent reason.

No yellow screen issues for me. If anything the screen is a more subtle blue colour

Notice the 13 Pro Max has significantly more yellow tint than the 11 pro max. However different people seem have different levels of yellow. This makes me wonder if there is a big variance in the calibration of the screens ex factory. I am very surprised that Apple would tolerate this. In the past every single laptop and iPad I have bought pretty much had almost identical colour calibration ex factory. There was one iPad I bought that had too much red but Apple replaced it with one that was working as expected.

I have since found out that it's possible to sort of do a colour calibration on the iPhone 13 Pro by going into the accessibilities settings and turning on color filters under display & text settings. You then have to adjust the intensity and hue to achieve more accurate calibration.

Of course the way they implemented this is neither accurate not can be replicated consistent across devices. What's worse in order to check the colour properly you have to check against a reference image. The 10 crayons apple provides to check colours almost feels like something is making a joke.

For phones that carry the "Pro" moniker this just isn't good enough. And yes I managed to get rid of the yellow tint. Of course the excessive auto dimming due to too much heat is another story.

Still waiting on that Vapour chamber cooling then it will be no heat at all :p then it will be fully gone

My new 13Pro is a bit cooler than my 11Pro. The 11Pro phones all had very warm screens 2 years ago. I even tried 4 phones, as far as I remember, and they were all like that.

My 13 Pro definitely appears warmer than my XR. I don't have any way to know whether the Pro is too yellow or the XR is too blue.

Same with my 13Pro, coming from the ip7 it was quite a shock but from what I’ve read it’s somewhat due to the OLED technology. So Accessibility menu>color filters and turning off true-tone seems to correct it for the most part.
