Very common for OLED. I’m very sensitive to it and many of my past iPhones had it (12 PM, 11PM) but this 13P seems flawless. (Did I win the lottery?)
Mine seems flawless too. All my other oled iPhones had some non uniformities.

I'm gonna a break in test for 100 hours to see if it helps with the uniformity. Read that OLED needs time to settle in or stabilise. Many anecdotal evidence to suggest that peoples OLED TVs were more uniform after breaking it in, so they suggest buyer to do that before immediately returning it. Whether or not this is true, I will run the test anyways and report back on my findings. Lockdown where I live so I don't use my phone that much, I can just leave it running a colour loop for hours without too much hassle.

My 12 is very good, 13 pro good not perfect. Right side is a bit darker, but not any major problem. I have seen both worse and better
That’s how my 13P is. I hadn’t noticed it ‘til I read this thread and checked. Hopefully I continue to not notice it in real world conditions.

My 13PM has a noticeable shift from top to bottom (disregard my friend’s opinion on Shang-Chi):

In the past, I would have just returned this phone and bought a new one and kept doing that till I got one with a “good enough” display, but I’m not sure if I’m going to do that this year since I’d have to wait over a month to get a new one. I’m going to see what the Genius Bar will do for this one

Probably not the answer, but you definitely weren't holding the screen at an angle right?

My launch day 128GB 13PM in silver was similar but reversed red at the bottom and greenish at the top. Managed to get a 256GB PM in graphite from John Lewis that was delivered yesterday and it’s much much better. Nice uniform screen - on whites anyway. So there are decent screens out there but the usual lottery I’m afraid.

Getting my 13 pro max replaced, greys are lifeless, red and yellow tint, the grey circles behind the numbers look lifeless compared to the 12 pro Max. both on same brightness, no True Tone, no night shift, auto brightness off, only difference is the 12 pro max has bold text on, compared it to other 13 pro max in store, my greys looked terrible, screen was way warmer and red as well.

My 13 Pro is the same, but in real life it's not as bad ad in the OP pictures. It's also slightly darker on the same side in daylight with white background. I checked in store and all 13s were like this (plain and Pro). I think they're all like this to some extent so there's no point in returning them. For now at least. But maybe there are worse panels than others. Mine isn't so bad but not perfect either.

In fact I already played the panel lottery with the 6S with 2 returns and ended up with a similar display as the first but with other minor defects on the unit. I'm definitely sticking with my good enough 13P screen. I suggest a return only for those who have a really bad panel which can be seen in person, not a slightly disuniformity at night at 0% brightness

Would you return it if it had faded greys and red tint?

Yes I read about your epic journey in the other thread. I think you did good having them exchange it, at least you'll gain some peace of mind. But be prepared to receive something like in this thread too. As I said, in store the demo units brightness was the same as on mine, but they also all had the darker warmer right side, all of them. I think it's very, very widespread. Also not many will notice, my GF didn't. Also, is your 12PM updated to iOS15 too right? I noticed that the user interface in iOS 14 was white, whereas in iOS 15 they changed most elements to a light grey as you can see here:

My Z Fold 2 (main screen) has a mild colour cast, I went through several 12 mini’s to get an even screen, returned several 12 Pro’s to get one which was merely ok. The point I am making is that OLED manufacture works on the principle of lithography and the majority of screens will come from an area of the wafer (outside the centre) that is uneven to some extent so the majority of screens will have minor to major colour cast and brightness variance. My 13 Pro will arrive on the 9th October when I’m back in the UK and I fully expect the screen to have some degree of this issue. If it’s immediately noticeable I will return it, but with the supply issues this year it will have to be very obvious to go through the grief of waiting a month or more and play the game to get stuck into a new replacement loop.

Good luck with the ever present OLED screen lottery people.

This would also be my advice. Going by previous experience

Never replaced a iPhone for a screen issue before, been using them since the 3GS days.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max was on iOS 14, I compared mine in store.with a 13 Pro Max, the greys on the display model looked cleaner like on the 12 Pro Max.

Even the apple store worker agreed that my screen doesn’t look right and recommended I exchange it.

Also not a fan of the screen lottery, whatever I get next I’ll be keeping, unless it’s a major defect.

My first 13 Pro Max had a red tint on the left edge that made dark greys darker and whites lighter. Annoying gradient effect from left to right, not too much but I’m super sensitive to uniformity issues. My second device is about as good as it gets. Happy camper now.

While this is an iPhone 13 color shift thread, I thought I’d throw this tidbit out:
I recently got a “new” Apple refurbished iPhone 8 plus (new screen, shell and battery) that of course has their excellent LCD display and the display is flawless. Perfect color uniformity and brightness at all angles. It’s perfect.

OLED and LCD are completely different display technologies so your experience with the 8 Plus is unfortunately not relevant to this thread.

I am however pleased to hear you are happy with your device.

Yes I know that probably better than anyone. My point was that the OLED screens clearly have problems and they aren’t really an upgrade over LCD.
