If you opt for a replacement in my experience...no. They expect to receive the phone matching the serial number you initiated the request for. If you want to compare and keep the better of the two/three or however many, your better off buying them outright which gives you a little more flexibility. I played the replacement game a few years back and the one they sent me wound up being worse off and had to send the better of the two back. If I have doubts anymore of a quality issue, I now just purchase them (when you can find them) and return the one I don't want. Your in a tough spot as your 14 day period is up today assuming you got it on launch. So you either have to try to find one today or go the replacement route if you want to roll the dice. Sometimes when you start to return/replace you go down this rabbit hole chasing something that doesn't exist when in reality the better of all the phones was the initial one you purchased. Its your money though so do what makes you satisfied.

Yeah, thanks for that answer. As others have said here, I think mine is actually well within the norm. It’s brighter in the left side, but that seems to be standard-ish.

If you’re under warranty, say within the 1st year, can you go in and say you’re not happy with the quality of the screen and have any success, or they likely to tell you to get lost without Apple Care? I’m more thinking about 6 months down the line, if I decide it’s bugging me.

To be honest, I don't know as I am sure someone here could better answer that. I never let it get that far as if I have an issue I always address it within the 14 day return period to avoid having to take the chance them doing nothing for you.

Mine isn't perfectly uniform and you did mention that you don't have any issues with the grey video I posted earlier right? If that is the case then your panel is probably better than most people in this thread already mine included.
I did get annoyed with it for the first few days but I quickly got over it since I couldn't see it under normal circumstances and had to pay attention to it for it to be a problem.

Hope it goes well for you, I would just be satisfied keeping it. It really is a gamble and you don't know how many replacements you will need to get to get a "good" one. I don't think the production issues is a valid argument either, my parents own a iPhone 11 Pro max and that was bought right before the 12 release pre pandemic. Still had uniformity issues too, in fact I'd argue my panel is slightly better.

The screen in the middle of Your picture is quite similar to mine. A slight shift from top to bottom (slight green to slight red). Reading black text on white background makes it kind of obvious...

Would You all consider this as typical and not worth returning (screen in the middle)?

I had similar issue with my 12 Pro. I went thru like half dozen units until found good one. All others were more or less like the one in the middle but few of them much worse with tint in different parts of the screen but all had also issue where upper and lower part of the had different tint (green/red) except the one I have now. All the "bad" ones I had where G9P (OLED-panel serial number begins with that) screens and the good one is G9N which seemed pretty hard to find, I even tried several shop demos without luck. Likely screen serials are different this year.

I would argue that the earliest production ones are the best as they haven't figured out the yield yet and are tossing out ones that they have to pass later as good.
It is possible since my experience with 12 Pro was that screens got worse and worse in my new units. The one I finally kept was the oldest of the units I tested.

Hmm my problem is faint. So all backgrounds look perfectly fine while viewing static images, at all brightness levels.

if I use light mode, and scroll in settings up and down I see the faintest of like, a line or transition in the middle? Anybody seen this? Again super crazy faint and you have to really look for it lol 😂

Screen tearing? I just posted a thread on this. It’s the only real defect I’ve been able to find with my screen. I think it’s a product of the way pro motion is implemented.

Yeah maybe? Although I’ve had it on some 60hz iPhones too. It so damn faint I really have to look for it; in fact on dark mode can’t tell at all. Welcome to my iPhone OCD lol!!

But I guess the flip side is I have none of the uniformity issues; oh and for once, the device itself is flawless, even buttons, no dust under the cameras, etc 😂

All the 13s I’ve seen have been slightly brighter (exhibits as slightly warmer or yellower) on the left side. Keyboard you can see it where you look at keys on the left vs on the right and they’ll look a slight bit yellower. It’s a bit maddening because in videos and other content, you wouldn’t see it but on white/grey pages with text my eye is drawn to it.

My 12 is very good, 13 pro good not perfect. Right side is a bit darker, but not any major problem. I have seen both worse and better
I did change to 13 mini and its much better, both left and right sides are darker but its fully symmetrical so not distracting at all.

Just opened and set up my 13 Pro……..much to my surprise and delight the phone has no cosmetic issues at all and a completely uniform screen…….to say I’m relieved is an understatement.

This is actually the first iPhone I have ever received that has zero defects!

Hoping I get as lucky with the Apple Watch.

I think I read Samsung, LG and BOE are supplying panels for the 13 with Samsung the exclusive supplier of the LTPO panels in the Pro so it looks like there is some pretty major variation in the panel quality.

That’s right. It explains why there are no where near as many screen issues with the Pro’s compared to last year. Granted there are still some issues but it seems more to do with batches.

Indeed, It’s also (with lithography) where your screen is cut from the wafer.

Grr. I’m still hung up on what looks to me like a slightly brighter, and hence bit more yellowish along the left side (13 Pro). If I’m reading text on a white light background, I notice going left to right as that color changes ever so slightly. Most might not even notice, and I’d thought it was typical of the 13 Pros. I’ll have to make another pilgrimage to the Apple store and look again. If I can see the same on their displays, I’m just going to leave it.

You might want to update your signature. Still showing that you are waiting on the iPhone 4S.

My launch day 13 PM has an ever so slight color shift from pink on the top half to slight green on the bottom at <25% brightness in the Settings app. I think I'll live with it and not draw from the OLED lottery again
I have a slight pink shift towards the upper right corner. It’s only noticeable on a white background with the brightness all the way down. I have decided to get another unit for peace of mind, but the new unit is not really better and has some other trade-offs: it has some pinkish spots in the middle of the screen instead. It will be going back. I’d say playing this lottery is not worth it at all.

13 Pro Max user here (512GB graphite) and my screen is pretty good in normal every day situations.

At night while using dark mode (especially if Night Shift is turned on), I can see that the right side of my panel is slightly more red/pink than the rest of the screen. It IS quite noticeable under these conditions but 95% of the time it's not visible or doesn't bother me enough to play the panel lottery because of it, so I'll just leave it as is.

I’ve gone through a few iPhone 13 Pro’s and iPhone 13 Pro Max’s. All the 13 Pro’s have a much warmer tint compared to the 13 Pro Max’s. Here are 2 different 13 Pro Max’s. The one on the left has more of a blue hue than the one on the right but it has this awful red tint towards the bottom. Which do you think looks better?

I love the 120hz, but have noticed after a few days that the screen uniformity of my 13Pro is significantly worse than my outgoing 11Pro. This is especially evident at night with low brightness (say 10% or so). For example, in Apollo the left to right, green to red tint is extremely noticeable and irritating. I am going to return this unit but may wait a few weeks (months) for the factory to improve on this. Unless this is within tolerance for OLED displays and you have to just live with it, which would really suck since I'm not looking forward to playing the panel lotto.
I see posts about this every year when the new iPhone comes out. I always look at my iPhone on a mostly white screen and it always looks the same to me top to bottom. I don't know if I've just been lucky or if I just can't see what you guys see. Keep in mind I DO see the non-uniformity in the pictures you posted.
