Security risk of people seeing your code in public. Complex passcodes are difficult and time consuming to type in especially if you're in a situation that requires frequent locking and unlocking of the iPhone (changing music, going back and forth between some task and the phone, directions, etc.)
Some random in the grocery checkout line seeing you type your iPhone password doesn’t really matter. It would only matter if they happen to steal the device from you.

If someone you live with sees your password, then that might be a concern. However, it’s not a big deal to change the password.

Thanks.
I must ask though. Would this not be more to do with how slippery the material it's made from?
I mean, a screwdriver any many other things are all rounded, but they are nice and grippy.
A screwdriver isn’t as thin as an iPhone and isn’t made out of glass

so it's basically going to look like one of those android iphone clones now? haha

The notch doesn't bother me like it seems to with so many here. It is the state of tech at the moment for Apple. Doing away with the notch isn't going to free up a lot of useable screen real estate for me at this point in time. If it vanishes in a few years, that is fine as well.
I completely agree, I just don't get the whole issue with the notch....other than a little cosmetics. Everybody is constantly asking for all kinds of tech updates, some that don't really make too much sense and then say that if the notch is still there it's a no go. Nobody sees it but the user, should be no big deal.

As you have seen on here, the tech world is coming to an end for many here, so long as the notch is present. Something so small causing a long of angst for many iPhone MR faithful.

In that vein also a risk of armed robbery where your mask is pulled down and your phone unlocked. There are some risks I believe to be virtually non-existent, can happen, but not likely. The key is to accurately assess that risk.

Wonder why they don’t use both in tandem like on high end mirrorless cameras.
I would guess it comes down to space. They would have to find space for a floating lens element. Maybe if Apple moves to a periscope lens setup?

The camera bump is on every single phone right now , I wouldn't say it's a design failure... How would you change this "design failure"?
They could change the "design failure" easily...make the whole device thicker so the camera lenses no longer protrude.....but holy hell would people on here be screaming....makes room for thicker battery...more time between charges, but then they will scream it's too heavy...everything is a compromise.

They may have to move to a periscope set up at some point or we’re going to end up with eight cameras on the back.

That is why companies that supply employees with tech devices and software require the the password be changed every month and cannot be reused for at least 3 months. It's a good idea to change passwords regularly.....not that I do either, but it is wise.

These specs do nothing to entice me - I'd wish they'd focus more on software features and improvements. It's not good when I found my 2011 Nokia E7 more productive than a modern iPhone.

Only complaints I have about my iPhone X are: lack of touch ID (nothing to do with pandemic, I've complained about it since day 1); it's too big (solved by iPhone mini); lack of a headphone jack (will never be back).

Oh man that sucks! I owned all the 12’s this year but returned all but the 12 mini and the 12 Pro Max. They’re okay on 4G. But the regular 12 that I had and returned often would randomly heat up. At that point I had made up my mind to go for a mini anyway for my main line. My 12 Pro Max is being used kind of like I used to use my iPad mini.

I have a Samsung S20 with the same 5G modem. It does give me better call clarity than my iPhone 12 mini or 12 Pro Max does, but I kept this phone on 4G service, too. I’m not sure why my Samsung phones and some of the other Android phones I’ve had give me more clear voice calls than I can get with iPhones.

I suspect Samsung may have a better antenna design. One of the reasons I have two lines in the first place is I could only count on my Android phones for actual good voice calls. I’ve had problems with either iPhone mics and/or intel modems. Given that I was dealing with elder care and medical emergencies on a regular basis I had to keep one good voice phone, even though I usually preferred iOS for most other things.

I’m probably keeping the 12 Pro Max for 2 years, but will likely upgrade the mini this year.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with your phone. It was very informative, thank you.

I really wanted to love iPhone 12 but I couldnt after all those issues I had, 12 series is the first ever iPhone I had issues with, every model since 4S has been flawless. I remember drooling and paying close attention to all the latest iPhone 12 leaks, I lived and breath Apple news for months and once I got one in my hands I was very disappointed. It was a sad day to be alive, but Im hopeful that Apple will iron out those issues and master the iPhone 13 lineup.

My son bought an iphone 12. As far as I know, there is nothing unusual about his battery life as I haven't heard him grousing. He upgraded from a 6s+. What was immediately evident was the increase in voice quality, not even close of how much improvement there was.

Of course we live in a crowded suburb in the shadow of NYC, so that may have something to do with the great quality of the reception.

Apple isn’t going to make the notch smaller. That notch is how people can tell that you have an iPhone and not from another brand!

Apple will leave the notch alone until they’re capable of completing going notch-free.

Also, I hope the next iPhone is thicker. It makes sense for thr 12, 12 Pro, and Pro Max to be as thin as possible, but the Mini could be made thicker 0.3” thicker than the others, and offer a larger battert, without reducing portability.

We get it that Tim Cook will reduce the notch size incrementally for the next 20 years (2037) even if there are a better alternative.

Underscreen touch ID, and no notch pushed me to Android. I still have my iPhone 12, but wait I want is not being address. More storage, better front camera, 120hz, no notch or significantly smaller, and USB C. Apple has lost their WOW factor for me!

Instant upgrade if:
  • Notchless
  • Embedded TouchID
  • OLED Screen flicker eliminated
Otherwise I'll wait for iPhone 14. An easy wait.
