To me, there has never been a more clear reason to spend the extra $200 more. For that $200 you get better GPU with nearly 40% more performance, significant camera upgrades and versatility (LiDAR as well), ProMotion, 6GB of RAM, better battery life. Apple has finally separated the Pro from the non-Pro models in a very clear way other than an extra lens.

As nice as those additional features are, when the standard iPhone 13 starts at £799, the extra £150 can be pushing the cost to an uncomfortable level for a lot of people. If people keep the phone for longer than 2 years it might spread the expense a little better, but in the short term I think the 13 still offers enough of a good package for anybody wanting the latest iPhone IMHO.

The Pro is currently £949 here and Apple have reduced it by £50 from last year to encourage people to buy the better model, however the standard iPhone has increased by £50 too. I sometimes think they should just produce a Pro at £850 and forget about releasing two models. I also wonder how long they can release a standard iPhone with just a dual camera system when it’s such a high price compared to other manufacturers in the market.

Never thought of paying for ~$1,000 for an iPhone, excluding AppleCare+ to be added later for another $199!
The iPhone 13 Pro 128Gb seems to be a decent upgrade from an 8 Plus 128Gb (previously 6S Plus 64Gb).
That's pricey for an iPhone but at least it'll keep for ~3~5 yrs before another upgrade.
The 13 Pro Max matches almost identically to the older Plus sizes. But it was time to downgrade from the bulkiness of the Plus size to fitting into pockets with less chances of falling out of the slightly smaller 13 Pro size.
The Pro's screen size is actually bigger than the Plus size without the bezels. :)
Now to spend more money for upgrades like some long USB-C to lightning cables and 20w wall chargers.

People complaining about the weight issues should look at the specs on Apple's website and the comparison between the models. If you perceive ~1~3 Ounces differences as heavy (esp. between the larger sizes the Pro Max model is almost Identical to the older Plus models), you should consider exercising.

Was going to upgrade to a 13 Pro Max from a XS Max but after comparing the models in store decided to just get an iPhone 12. 13 Pro Max is a bit too large and heavy for me and not much difference between 12/13. Got a 12 replacement unit for significantly cheaper than a 13.

The decision is much easier this year, especially since I don’t find the diagonal camera design appealing.

$169-$199 more for the Pro is a no-brainer IMHO.

I'd normally agree, but gosh the Pro is a hefty phone. I handled both in the Apple store and it's just too heavy. Beautiful though and the Pro Motion is super nice.

I haven’t been a major fan of Apple’s leather cases. Silicone provides better protection and grip. They do have a blue silicone case. I’d also check an alternative such as Vaja.
Thanks. I’ve been pretty loyal to Apple leather and silicon cases, but lately the color options haven’t been great. Vaja makes some BEAUTIFUL stuff. Never knew about them.

For the hundredth time, the Pro camera tele lens does not optically zoom. None of the lenses do. It's three prime lenses. It's almost false advertising from Apple.
The distance between the lens and the sensor does change when you zoom. So, it's optical zoom, as opposed to digital zoom.
