Apple never advertises the amount of RAM in iPhones, but MacRumors can confirm that all four iPhone 14 models are equipped with 6GB of RAM.

The latest Xcode 14 beta contains files showing that the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max are each equipped with 6GB of RAM. By comparison, the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 have 4GB of RAM and the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max have 6GB, so there is 50% more RAM in the standard models this year.

Previous RAM amounts:
  • iPhone 13 mini: 4GB
  • iPhone 13: 4GB
  • iPhone 13 Pro: 6GB
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max: 6GB
New RAM amounts:
  • iPhone 14: 6GB
  • iPhone 14 Plus: 6GB
  • iPhone 14 Pro: 6GB
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max: 6GB
The same Xcode files accurately revealed the amount of RAM in iPhone 13 models last year and in several previous iPhone generations.

In March, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the iPhone 14 Pro models would feature a faster type of RAM known as LPDDR5, compared to LPDDR4X for the standard iPhone 14 models, but the Xcode files only confirm the amount of RAM in each model. The type of RAM in the iPhone 14 models should be confirmed once teardowns of the devices are published.

iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models sport the A15 Bionic chip with a 5-core GPU, while the Pro models feature a new A16 Bionic chip.

All four iPhone 14 models will be available to pre-order starting Friday, September 9 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time in the U.S. and over 40 other countries and regions. The devices are set to launch one week later on Friday, September 16, with the exception of the 14 Plus model, which will be available starting Friday, October 7.

This is bittersweet. It is great for the 14, however would’ve liked an increase in the pro lineup. 4GB Ram is unusable in my opinion if you are a multitasker. I loved the upgrade to 6GB with my 12Pro

Heh. I was so happy when I heard the original 6 GB rumour for a rumoured 14 Plus. I was all set on buying this for the wife, but now she tells me she wants the Pro Max just because she heard on the radio it's better. The Apple marketing is working.

However, I think 4 GB is OK for many users. Actually, she's on 3 GB XR and doesn't have any performance complaints. The main reasons she wanted to upgrade were for a bigger screen size and better camera (with more than just one lens). Truthfully the 14 Plus would be perfect for her, but whatever. If she wants the Pro Max, she'll get the Pro Max.

Anyone can confirm 120Hz display on iPhone 14 pro for everyday use? Mixed answers looking on google.
I really like the smoothness on 120Hz and i have currently a iPhone 12.

iPhone 12 does not have 120 Hz. Or is that what you meant?

Anyhow, I have 120 Hz ProMotion on my iPad Pro. I can most definitely see the difference, but honestly I don't care.

Maybe it'd be nice for 24 Hz video content, but I don't watch a lot of video on my iPad Pro (except on vacation), partially because it's not OLED.

But yes, the iPhone 14 Pro/Max have ProMotion.

3 GBs of RAM in the iPhone X and I haven’t felt like the phone is struggling. Amazing to think at one point having 128 MBs of RAM in a phone was just astounding. Now it seems like 3 GBs is cutting it short. I don’t expect Apple to bump the iPhone to 8 GBs until all their notebooks and desktops have 16 GB standard.

I see the iPad likely standardizing on 8 GB across the Air and Pro lineup regardless of storage.

Pro: 6GB of RAM, lightning port, no WiFi 6E, (likely) no HD audio BT and still no TouchId.
Non Pro: 60Hz, dual camera setup, old 5nm A15 (I hope they updated the modem)

Those iPhone are the best ever.
But there is now a huge gap regarding many hardware aspects vs mid (or even low) range Android. Not saying those cheap phones are better, not at all. But Apple is being too conservative for his own good here, and it may backfire at some point.

This is what put me in a dilemma. I was going to get the 13 mini, but the RAM thing might push me to just get the 14 instead as I know Apple likes to drop iOS support based on RAM amount, and it seems Apple is phasing out models with 3GB and 4GB fairly quickly.

Apple have never specified RAM on their devices, so it'll never be any incentive.
That’s folly.

Geekbench and other tools list the RAM size, and then publications like macrumors et al. publish the RAM stats usually the same day or the day after the keynote.

So those who care about the RAM size will know prior to the pre-order window.

It will be hilarious when an iPhone has the same or more RAM than a base Macbook.

Just to nitpick. 128 MB of RAM in the iPhone and 3G was problematic pretty early on. (I had the 3G.)

One of the reasons I didn't buy the original iPad was because of its anemic 256 MB RAM (and single-core CPU). I was very glad I waited a year and got the iPad 2 with its 512 GB RAM (and dual-core CPU). The original iPad's last OS version was iOS 6. The iPad 2 lasted until iOS 9.

You're correct. A phone with 3GB of RAM should run quite well... depending on what you expect from your phone.

Apps are designed with those RAM amounts in mind. So maybe your games or productivity apps could look nicer/do more for you if Apple was less conservative in this regard. And iOS, like any other other is only going to require more RAM. So the more you have today, the longer your product could be supported. The 6 sticking to 2GB is what killed it in the long term.
Of course, there is no hard rule, Apple could stop supporting a device based on marketing decision only. But come on... more RAM is only a plus.

And, again you're correct, it woul be stupid to expect all high end phones to go to 16GB or even 20GB, or even more. But 8GB for the Pro models would have been a reasonable upgrade here, give how expensive the thing are.

Still plenty for now, but Apple should have bumped up to 8GB in my opinion. As the initial impulse to buy the 14 Pro Max is decreasing, the more I'm reminded how good the 13 Pro is. Still crushes all the important boxes for me. That Dynamic Island feature and AoD are what I'm most tempted by!

What version of iOS do you run on your X?

It's unfortunately been my experience that some iOS updates cause iPhones to become much more sluggish than the launch version.

I should have been clearer, Apple have never placed focus on RAM as a marketing feature.

Amount of RAM should depend on how resource hungry the iOS version is as well as the resource usage of apps... I don't play games or use my iPhone for photo and video editing so 2GB and 3GB is fine for me on iOS 15.6 RC
