I did the direct data transfer and my old iPhone says the transfer completed (took about an hour). However I now can't get the screen on the iPhone 14 Pro to power on.

Strangely, I'm feeling haptic touches, so I suspect the phone is on. But the screen is pitch black.

Anyone else getting this or found a solution?

Thanks!

Volume up, volume down, then hold the side button for 10 seconds. That will force it to reboot. If it's still a problem, you'll have to put it into recovery mode and hook it up to a PC or Mac and restore.

Mine is still stuck on "Time remaining: About 5 minutes...." for half an hour now :/ not sure what to do if I wait or try to reset and start over. Damn apple

I just had exactly the same issue, the forced reboot resolved it - I think there was some OS upgrade applied at the same time because I got the ios16 upgrade notice when it rebooted.

The 14 Pro setup was among the easiest I've ever done. Restored from iTunes encrypted backup, transferred my T-Mobile SIM from 13 Pro to E-SIM on 14 Pro with literally one click.

Apple Pay issue seems to be with Chase, which they are apparently aware of. I can't add two Chase cards at the moment to Wallet / Apple Pay. Unacceptable to me, I'm returning the 14 Pro and going to Android.

This happened to me. After a moment of panic, I plugged it into my MacBook Pro and it turned back on, and asked if I wanted to do the 16.0.1 download, which I did. No problems since!

Mine just arrived. Should I plug it into my MacBook to update before doing the transfer?

I had two numbers and transfer failed after activation twice each time after one of the numbers was transferred and it went to the "transferring from old phone" screen. I ended up putting it in DFU and forcing update to 16.0.1. finishing transfer now and all seems to be going better. maybe it was having 2 eSIMs or I kept hitting the bug. Strangely each time the phone started with the number having transferred successfully. This eSIM thing is kinda weird.

I think I'd just do your usual transfer. If this were a widespread issue, you'd have tons of people on here complaining. Just keep that option in your back pocket if needed. (My 2 cents.)

Yeah the eSIM thing took longer than I thought but it worked. Now doing the device transfer. Funny how it does the Apple Card first.

This is exactly what happened to me also. So bizarre that I could feel haptic feedback but the screen was staying off. I had to do a hard reset to get it back. After it booted it slowly went through a status bar but it eventually worked.

Yeah i had to force reboot on my 14 Pro. Annoying, a bit "OMFG what now?" ish, but... it's updating to 16.0.1 right now.

Same here - Wireless transfer completed then new phone went black for 10mins. Had to force reboot then installed the update.

Same here. After transfer is completed, my 14 pro max screen turned black. Had to hard reboot and then there was some os upgrade. But after that I still had to update to iOS 16.0.1.
