They tend to be a bit thick for a phone.

I don't know ... looks just fine to me.

I'm ready, gonna jump from the XR to the Pro, should be a nice upgrade, delayed gratification or something like that.
No, it’s called being a sensible human being. I’m on an 11 and the “upgrade” from the X was so underwhelming, and subsequent upgrades so minor that I’ll probably hold off until iPhone 16 or 17, at which point these tiny upgrades will add up to a more meaningful upgrade… and my battery will be almost dead.

Good luck with the sideloading... you'll be waiting a lot longer than iPhone 15.
It won’t need new hardware for side loading, that’s an OS change. I suspect it’s coming in the next one to two years based on the pressure governments globally are starting to put around this. Apple will of course hold out until they have no choice on this one.

"This is our thickest and heaviest iPhone yet, the camera bump is 20% larger. We think yur gonna love it, we can't wait to see what you do with it."

I am a big fan of USB-C for many things. They are fantastic for charging iPads and other large devices. They tend to be a bit thick for a phone.
"Thick for an iPhone"???? Are you serious or is this an early April Fool's joke? If serious, can you explain this? It may be one of the most absurd statements I've ever heard. But not at all surprising here.

Is sideloading now a HW function???
/s
Who knows, Apple might find a hole to circumvent it for older "already sold" devices, otherwise they would have to release an update to enable sideloading down to iPhone3G.
With an iPhone that got bought after DMA and DSA release early 2023, you will have better chances to get it by law in the EU.

I really wished they bumped up their announcement to September 1st and made all models available the same day, rather than the current October of each year(a week delay after announcement for availability, plus about a week in shipping).

I told people on here for years that no one wanted or would buy it. But apparently people on here thought they'd make them forever because a few people wanted them.
They sold upwards of 10 million of them, so you were wrong by a factor of 10 million. ;) Any other manufacture would have been thrilled with the sales.

But yeah it was a failure as they didn’t sell as well as Apple was hoping for nor the percentage of overall sales they expected to warrant releasing it on a yearly upgrade cycle. I believe a lot of that is that it didn’t have any redeeming qualities other than for those who want the small size. It was priced too close to the larger models and didn’t have have good battery life. It just was a bad value except again for those of us who really prefer smaller/lighter iPhones. I still have hope they move it to a 2 year cycle and we see a 15 mini or the move the SE design to it.

It’s your money and if you have it but it. But seriously, the folks who should be seriously considering this upgrade are iPhone 7 and 6s or older.

Again, if you like having the latest and greatest without substantial improvements, then please continue to make me a happy shareholder.
I'd say any 'pre 5G' iPhone should upgrade.

3GS - given to family
5S - very good trade-in
6S - still own as a backup. No iOS 16 for that though.
11 - my main phone

14? 15? undecided.

Wow time is flying!

It’s becoming real.

Will I still go check out in Apple Store to appreciate (hopefully) the new designs and colors? Yes. Of course.

Should I be any bit excited? No. No I should not.

(The REAL excitement is the Apple Watch 8! And rugged maybe… just give me sapphire screen on the aluminum watch!! And make $429 if you must)

almost pulled the trigger on a 13PM due to the $400 credit that VZ was offering for my iPhone 7+. Did some math realized that it didn't make sense to get the $400 (over 3 yrs) and change from the cheap 4-line plan that we have to an unlimited. Ergo, now excitedly waiting for the 14s.
Yep! That Verizon carrier lock-in for three years is no deal at all.

SE mini form factor with one camera would be a a flipping DREAM.

Make it stainless steel though. I really dont like seeing this flat matte now. The 5s bezel sheen was nice.

Get a 14Pro! I'm betting that the Pro models (not lower models) will be the first with USBC to support high resolution video file transfers. You will also get a gorgeous high refresh OLED, a fast/energy efficient new Qualcomm x65 5G chip (better Bluetooth and likely 6E support), better durability and water resistance, plus of course a much faster processor than what you have... don't wait since the iPhone 15 probably won't add much more to this list.
