I’m really not one to nitpick or sweat the small stuff, but it is pretty off-putting for a brand new top of the line phone to be riddled with so manly glitches right out of the box.
Apple is renown for their unboxing experience which really sets the tone from that moment going forward. While the actual physical iPhone 14 Pro unboxing experience may be as good as ever, the fact that you have to immediately update the software now becomes inextricably part of the experience since it’s the first thing you’re doing after turning the phone on. As minor of an inconvenience it may be to update software, it leaves a poor impression on the user and Apple knows or should know that.
I can’t imagine how technically demanding it is to develop the hardware and software that went into this phone. But that doesn’t change the fact that users will feel like the development was rushed, shortcuts were taken, quality control was absent, and that perhaps Apple willingly sold people an unfinished product.
